Marvel: The Top 9 Best Alternate Universes To Live In | CBR

Marvel Comics’ multiverse is pretty well known for its dystopias, like Days of Future Past and the Age of Apocalypse. Yet within that giant tapestry of worlds, there are actually plenty of alternate universes to Earth-616 out there that are perfectly pleasant to live in. Some are outright utopias, while others, though not necessarily perfect, are still solid places to move to, either because they’re relatively peaceful or highly entertaining.

Should someone ever find a way to jump into the Merry Marvel Multiverse with the intent of staying a good long while, here are some ideal places where they can put down roots.

9 You Can Fight Crime With (Or Get Rescued By) The Classic Marvel Bullpen On Earth-1228

What If #11 by Jack Kirby, Mike Royer, and Carl Gafford may have made more than one staffer around the Marvel Bullpen’s dream come true by granting Kirby, Stan Lee, Flo Steinberg, and Sol Brodsky the powers of the Fantastic Four. Smilin’ Stan could stretch like Mr. Fantastic, Jumpin’ Jack gained the Thing’s rocky exterior, Jolly Sol could flame on like the Human Torch and Fabulous Flo could vanish from sight like the Invisible Girl, thanks to a special box sent to them by the Skrulls. True Believers of all kinds would relish watching Marvel’s iconic Bullpen team in action while chuckling at their coy banter.

8 Earth-12 Is Nicer To Mutants And Super-Heroes In General… And Is The Home Of Exiles Member Mimic

Calvin Rankin, alias Mimic, has changed sides more than once in the main Marvel Universe. Conversely, once the Mimic of Earth-12 became a hero, he stayed that way. That likely had a lot to do with his native Earth's acceptance of mutants, which allowed Calvin to thrive and serve proudly among his reality’s X-Men and Defenders teams.

Though not a utopia, Earth-12 is a gentler version of Earth-616 on the whole, making it a promising candidate for those searching for a home not unlike the Marvel Universe appearing in most comic books.

7 Hilarity And Schoolyard Superhero Antics Await You On Earth-99062, Home Of The Mini Marvels

Marvel Universe fans that value a more lighthearted (and safer) lifestyle with the same characters Earth-616 has to offer would enjoy Earth-99062. There they can laugh at the shenanigans of Chris Giarrusso’s Mini Marvels, mostly kid versions of the Marvel characters, as they crack jokes, play baseball games, go on paper routes, and engage in other fun, all-ages activities when they’re not fighting crime. The villains are much less lethal in this reality, including Venom, despite his alleged fascination with eating people’s brains. Particularly discerning Marvel readers would also appreciate the meta-commentary the Mini Marvels regularly make about Earth-616 events.

6 Earth-8 Is A Happy Place To Be… So Long As Nothing Happens To Earth-65

After haphazardly bouncing around through universes, Spider-Man (Miles Morales) and Spider-Woman (Gwen Stacy, or “Spider-Gwen”) ended up on Earth-8… where the Miles and Gwen of that world had been happily married for 20 years. It was an Earth where crime was well under control thanks to the Amazing Eight, a Spider-themed team whose members included Earth-8 Miles and Gwen’s kids, Max and Charlotte.

The world’s relatively peaceful nature and impressive technology make it a great place for anyone, especially Spider-Family fans, to stick around long-term. Its fate is completely dependent on Spider-Gwen’s native world Earth-65, however, as it’s a divergent timeline of that Earth.

5 Earth-451 Is Peaceful And Prosperous… Though Its Ruler, Star Brand, Is Kind Of A Dictator

The immense power of the Star Brand is not to be wielded lightly, and can lead to catastrophic results if used by someone nefarious or inexperienced. Every so often, however, someone manages to use it without making a mess at some point.

In Untold Tales of the Universe #1 by Jeff Parker, Javier Pulido and Lee Loughridge, two researchers studying Kenneth Connell, the Star Brand from the original New Universe series, noted that Earth-541 had attained world peace, thanks to that universe’s Star Brand. Seeing as said Star Brand was also Earth-541’s “global monarch,” that could be a deal-breaker for those seeking a less fascistic world to reside in.

4 Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends Live In More Peaceful Universes— Namely Earth-8107 And Earth-1983

Pretty much any world where Spider-Man, Firestar, and Iceman regularly team-up is going to probably be fairly relaxed. There are two main versions of the three-person team in the Marvel Universe: one exists on Earth-8107, where the original Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends TV show took place, and another resides on Earth-1983. Inhabitants of the former Earth may want to be a little careful about upsetting Bruce Banner from the 1982 Incredible Hulk cartoon, though he can generally be depended upon to be a force of good.

Three similar locales are Earth-6799, home of the 1967 Spider-Man cartoon, and its doubles Earth-67 and Earth-3015.

3 On Earth-200784, The Fantastic Four And Doctor Doom “Battle” Each Other Through Song

Music can bring the world together, as one Star Brand proved on Earth-723. Yet music lovers interested in living near more traditional Marvel characters may find the perfect home on Earth-200784. Introduced in Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four #25 by Fred Van Lente, Crystal Skillman, Cory Hamscher, and Lee Loughridge, Earth-200784 is quite similar to the main Marvel Adventures universe, with one key difference: the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom wage battle through musicals.

While the Fantastic Four still throw a punch or two, the only victims seem to be dancing Doombots, meaning onlookers can probably watch these musical showdowns fairly up-close... maybe even with popcorn.

2 Cable Made The World A Peaceful Place As Brother Nathan On Earth-58161

In Cable & Deadpool, Nathan Summers transformed his old base, Graymalkin, into Providence, an idyllic island society open to all. Cable hoped to replicate Providence’s success all over Earth… sometimes through deeply questionable means.

Deadpool had the chance to experience Nathan’s full vision for Earth when ending up on Earth-58161. That world's Cable, calling himself “Brother Nathan,” had remade Earth into a virtual utopia, ending violence, discrimination, and world hunger. The people living there seemed happy, as Nathan addressed their every need and concern (including ailing stomachs). Though a serene place to live, Brother Nathan did suggest that Cannonball, at least, disagreed with his ex-mentor's methods.

1 The Ages of Apocalypse Story Showcased Earth-32098, A Reality Where The X-Men And Cadre K Attained Near-Universal Peace

In “Ages of Apocalypse,” the villainous mutant Apocalypse used the power of the Twelve to remake reality multiple times to suit his purposes. Interestingly, his last attempt wasn’t apocalyptic, but instead a reality where the X-Men and a group of mutant Skrulls (called “Cadre K” in later stories) had united most of the cosmos as the Universal X-Alliance.

Now its own universe (supposedly), Earth-32098 has a lot going for it, including technology and medicine advanced enough to extend people’s lifespans by a least a century. The X-Men and Skrull mutants even created a way Galactus can feed without consuming planets, ending the threat he once posed.
