Warning: The following contains spoilers for Rick and Morty Season 5, Episode 5, "Amortycan Grickfitti," which aired Sunday on Adult Swim.
In the latest episode of Rick and Morty, Summer prods Morty to engineer a space adventure for them and the new, cool kid at school who she wants to impress: Bruce Chutback. Morty's desperate for Bruce's approval as well, so they jump into Rick's space cruiser and go on a bender across the cosmos. However, the trip results in the killing of Transformers, pod racers and even a version of Galactus.
The ship takes some convincing to let the teens board because the mad scientist left orders that only he alone can commandeer it. Summer, however, tricks it as it's programmed to keep her safe, while also lying about Rick being in danger.
The ship figures out the lie but eventually takes them on shady activities, including getting drunk, smashing sentient mailboxes and pestering the galaxy in general. However, as they go through an asteroid field, they see a pod racer similar to the ones found in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. He's wearing young Anakin's goggles but it's pretty twisted that the pilot and the ship are, well, designed similarly to testicles. Sadly, it's a brutal, fiery end because Morty moons the racer as a distraction, causing him to crash into an asteroid and explode.
It's more warped when the ship reveals that she wants to commit murder and enjoy a night out. She blackmails the teens, having recorded their crimes for Rick. It leads to the ship using a solar system as bait, fishing for none other than a Galactus-like being. Just like in the Marvel Universe, this entity wants to devour the planets for energy, but he falls for the trap and the ship hooks and strangles him. It then blows a hole through the entity's skull, suggesting that the ship's more evil than Rick.
The icing on the cake comes when they touch down near Space Tahoe where the ship wants to lose her virginity. She feuds with a Changeformer -- a parody of Transformers -- in the parking lot, before he thinks she's one of them as she preps to unleash her weapons systems. He invites the space cruiser to the ski lodge where parodies of Bumblebee, Arcee and Hot Rod are having a party, as the Changeformer wants her to have a good time too.
Sadly, the cruiser can't maintain her fake form when she gets there, and as her head falls off, the Changeformers make fun of her like a bunch of idiot bros, evoking the '80s aura of teen movies. It leads to a Carrie-like sequence where the ship gets revenge by going into war-mode, burning all the bots before escaping Changeformer-cops down the ski slope, smashing and killing even more. Thankfully, they evade imprisonment and get back home, fooling Rick, Jerry and Beth. But this murder spree leaves fans wondering if the ship's snuck out and done stuff like this on her own.
Rick and Morty is currently airing its fifth season. New episodes drop each Sunday at 11 p.m. ET on Adult Swim.
