Star Wars: Book of Boba Fett Will Be Grittier Than Mandalorian

Fans should expect Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett to venture into some darker places compared to its predecessor.

The Mandalorian stuntman Brendan Wayne spoke with Star Wars Sessions, praising director Robert Rodriguez for his "all killer, no filler" depiction of Boba Fett on the small screen. Speculating that The Book of Boba Fett's adventures will differ from The Mandalorian's due to its titular character's portrayal, Wayne noted, "I think that's what we as an audience, I think, are going to get from The Book of Boba Fett. A lot more of that kinda feel. He gets even grittier than Mando did. I feel like he doesn't have the choice because he really was a different kind of character."

In June, Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison confirmed that The Book of Boba Fett wrapped up filming while noting the difficulties of shooting the series during the COVID-19 pandemic. Morrison, who first entered the Star Wars franchise as Jango Fett and the clone troopers during the prequel trilogy, would go on to re-dub Boba Fett's dialogue in The Empire Strikes Back DVD release. He'd continue to voice him in various video games like EA's Star Wars Battlefront titles before playing the iconic bounty hunter in live-action on The Mandalorian. Upon reclaiming his old armor from Din Djarin, Boba and Fennec Shand, whom he rescued on Tatooine, agree to help Mando reclaim Grogu from Moff Gideon and the Empire in order to pay off his debt.

Details about The Book of Boba Fett's plot remain unknown, though Morrison disclosed that the show will delve further into Fett's past during the original trilogy. This past is currently being explored through Marvel's "War of the Bounty Hunters" Star Wars comic storyline, with Fett and various other parties attempting to reclaim Han Solo's carbonite slab from the resurfaced Crimson Dawn crime syndicate. Additionally, Fennec Shand has made reoccurring appearances on Disney+'s The Bad Batch animated series, with Ming-Na Wen voicing a younger version of her character.

The Book of Boba Fett stars Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen. The series premieres in December on Disney+.
