Boruto starts as a rather unlikeable character who acts like a brat most of the time, but his character has certainly progressed since then. He's grown in different ways and become a splendid ninja who's capable of taking on some formidable opponents. Boruto is now a responsible shinobi who has earned his father's respect on countless occasions at the current point in the story.

10 He Understands His Father's Responsibilities Now

Boruto's relationship with his father was quite strained at the beginning of the Boruto series. Although Boruto knew Naruto was the Hokage, he didn't truly understand what it meant to hold the position. After Momoshiki and Kinshiki's attack on Konohagakure, he realized how important it was for his father to fulfill his duty as the Hokage of the village. As such, Boruto has significantly matured since his father protected Konohagakure from the Otsutsuki invasion.

9 He Is A Very Caring Brother

Boruto might appear to be a carefree ninja, but he deeply cares about his sister, Himawari, especially now that he's grown up. During his childhood, he often fought with her, as seen during the day when Naruto became the Hokage. However, he has certainly become a more reliable older brother since then. Boruto is very protective of his younger sister and would go to any lengths for her, as seen on countless occasions in the story. He's slowly learning to handle responsibility, and the immense love that he has for his sister helps further that.

8 He Understands The True Purpose Of The Scientific Ninja Tools

Although Boruto Uzumaki relied on Scientific Ninja Tools to help him progress in the Chunin Exams, he grew to hate them when Naruto stripped him of his shinobi status and made him realize that cheating will never be rewarded. Despite that, Naruto made use of Scientific Ninja Tools himself and actually wanted to incorporate them into Konoha's already great technology. Initially, Boruto was against this idea, but he slowly realized that it all depended on how the weapon was used.

7 He Understands What It Means To Be A Shinobi

Boruto was quite skilled as a ninja ever since he was a kid. In fact, he was known as a prodigious child, unlike his father in his childhood. Sadly, Boruto showed little to no interest in being a shinobi at first.

This lack of motivation made him unfit to be a shinobi as talent would only take him so far. Thanks to Sasuke and Naruto, Boruto realized what being a shinobi truly meant. Now, he puts most of his time into getting better.

6 He Finally Has A Goal In Life

Boruto didn't particularly care about anything in life during his days in the Academy. In fact, he wasn't even sure why he wanted to become a ninja in the first place. With time, he has grown enough to know why he's a shinobi. Thanks to Sasuke, Boruto finally has a goal. It's to become a shinobi like Sasuke who will always protect the village, no matter what. Boruto aims to assist Sarada Uchiha when she becomes the Hokage and guard her and the village at all times.

5 He Accepted Kawaki As His Brother

After the events of the Ao arc, Boruto finally met Kawaki, one of the main characters in the story. Initially, the two didn't get along at all and would always be at each other's throats. Boruto, especially, treated Kawaki harshly at times as he expected proper behavior from him. However, ever since he realized that Kawaki was actually an abuse victim and needed help, Boruto became much more sympathetic toward him. He even offered to help him to get rid of the Karma. Boruto even refers to Kawaki as his brother, showing how much he's grown with time.

4 He Risks His Life To Protect Those He Loves Now

Now that Boruto has progressed as a shinobi, he knows what it means to have bonds, and he is willing to go to any lengths to protect them. When Naruto Uzumaki was captured by Jigen and trapped within the giant bowl, it was Boruto and his team who stepped up and risked their lives by fighting a Kara Inner.

Despite being out of their depth, they continued to fight and eventually succeeded in saving Naruto. During his Academy days, Boruto would never have taken such a risk.

3 He Relies A Lot On Teamwork Now

While Boruto can be a one-man army at times, when it comes to fighting strong opponents, he is more open to relying on teamwork now. This was seen when Team 7 took on Boro and realized they stood no chance against him in a one-on-one. Boruto even agreed to Sarada being the leader of Team 7 and followed her and Mitsuki's plan to perfection, showing how much he's matured in the process.

2 He Has Developed His Own Jutsu

Boruto has also matured as a shinobi and is now capable enough to develop his own techniques. Under Sasuke's supervision, he learned the Vanishing Rasengan, which took him quite a lot of training to perfect. Prior to this, Boruto would hardly put any effort into training, and thanks to him being a skilled genius, the lack of training would never bother him much. However, now, Boruto wants to keep getting better and develop new techniques.

1 He Has Gained Karma Control

Not only has Boruto learned how to develop his own jutsu, but he's also learned to control the Karma to quite an extent. He can easily access the first stage of the power and gain a tremendous boost in power in the process. When used against Boro, he was able to keep up with him to some extent. He could even spar with Naruto Uzumaki using the Karma power, showcasing his growth along the way. Boruto has certainly matured quite a lot and will keep growing into a finer shinobi as the story moves forward.
