Black Panther's iconic Marvel Cinematic Universe design is now available as an in-game costume in Marvel's Avengers.
Announced on Twitter, T'Challa's suit from the character's first standalone film Black Panther is now available for purchase through Marvel's Avenger's shop. "The Black Panther is here. Inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Panther's "Marvel Studios' Black Panther" Outfit features a king fighting for the throne and for his people. Get it in the Marketplace now!"
Accompanying the announcement is a brief trailer showing off the suit in action. The gameplay footage highlights T'Challa in the "Marvel Studios' Black Panther" outfit in a variety of locations around Wakanda, the game's latest hub environment.
Black Panther is the latest hero added to Marvel's Avengers following the launch of the War for Wakanda expansion. Released on Aug. 17, War for Wakanda added a host of new gameplay features to Crystal Dynamics' live-service superhero game. Fans were most enthused by the introduction of T'Challa and Wakanda but the addition of new villains Ulysses Klaue and Crossbones, unique Threat Sector and Drop Zone missions and plenty of gear and cosmetics was the icing on the cake.
Black Panther's MCU iteration was played by the late Chadwick Boseman, who tragically passed away in 2020 due to severe colon cancer. Boseman's rendition of the character has become iconic for fans of both the comics and films. Upon Black Panther's original announcement for Marvel's Avengers, players began speculating that an MCU-inspired suit would eventually be released.
T'Challa isn't the first Avenger to receive an outfit inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black Widow, Iron-Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk and Hawkeye (Clint Barton) all received skins based on their appearance in The Avengers: Endgame. The game also includes a skin based on Black Widow's costume in her standalone film and an outfit for Captain America that resembles his design in 2012's The Avengers.
Marvel's Avengers is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia. The War for Wakanda expansion is playable as a free update.
