Crunchyroll is partnering with Xbox to offer free access to all of its subscribers to the the Xbox Game Pass for PC service for three months.
Crunchyroll's deal with Xbox is just the latest high profile partnership for the streaming company. The company also recently announced that it is co-producing the new space opera, Dark Star Squadron, with Star Trek and Guardians of the Galaxy star Zoe Saldana and her production company, Cinestar Pictures.
The anime streaming service recently surpassed over 5 million paid subscribers and 120 million registered users in total. Crunchyroll is currently in the process of being sold by current parent company WarnerMedia, who reportedly plans to sell the company to tech conglomerate Sony for $1.1 billion USD. The sale is currently pending regulatory approval.
Crunchyroll has promised more announcements to come at their yearly Crunchyroll Expo, which is being held virtually this year due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. The free online convention will host panels related to upcoming and recently aired anime such as Blade Runner: Black Lotus, SAKUGAN, Fena: Pirate Princess, Girlfriend, Girlfriend and more.
