The most powerful members of the Fairy Tail Guild were attacked by Acnologia on Tenrou Island, but they were saved by their first master who used a powerful defense spell known as Fairy Sphere to encase the entire island. Their lives were spared, but they were frozen in time and lost seven years of their lives. During this time, Fairy Tail's reputation as the best guild dropped dramatically.

The Grand Magic Games was a crucial turning point for the Fairy Tail Guild as it gave them a chance to reclaim their spot as the mightiest guild on the continent. This tournament had a lot of blood-pumping moments as they proved just how good the Fairy Tail Guild was.

10 Elfman Vs. Bacchus Was An Unexpected Match-Up With An Unexpected Result

Bacchus was introduced as a drunk and powerful wizard who showed a tiny bit of his power during the Chariots game. Eventually it was time for him to fight someone in the arena, but his opponent, who was meant to be Erza, was accidentally switched to Elfman. After seeing Bacchus dominate Elfman, no one believed that Elfman had what it took to even lay a finger on him.

But by a stroke of brilliance, Elfman transformed into a Lizard Man with an insanely tough hide and declared that Bacchus give him all he had. After a series of brutal attacks, Bacchus wore himself out and Elfman stood victorious.

9 Gray Vs. Rufus Was A Test For Gray But He Came Through For His Team

Gray insisted on challenging Rufus despite Mavis saying that it was not a suitable pairing for her plan. Mavis trusted Gray and let him have a go at Rufus to redeem himself, and Rufus spent most of the match overwhelming Gray with his seemingly endless magic potential. But Gray didn't give up, and with his quick thinking, he unleashed a barrage of magic attacks that were too much for Rufus' mind to handle. In his confusion, Gray made quick work of Rufus at took his cap as a trophy.

8 Erza Vs. One Hundred Monsters Was A Thrilling Experience

In their quest to redeem themselves, Fairy Tail's Team A found themselves on a losing streak. During the game of Pandemonium, Erza took it upon herself to redeem the team by doing her best in the game. Players were required to challenge any number of opponents out of a hundred monsters and defeat them.

Erza went first and stole the show by challenging all one hundred monsters in the castle. She fought valiantly, defeated them all, and claimed victory for her team, proving that the Fairy Tail Teams were way better than all others in the kingdom.

7 Erza Vs. Kagura Vs. Minerva Had Everybody On Edge

Erza was supposed to take on Minerva as per Mavis' calculations, but before she had the chance to do so, Kagura came charging in with bad intentions. While the two warriors faced off against each other, Minerva joined the party. This was a nail-biting scene for every viewer as these three women were not foes to be toyed with. Their combined magic power was so intense that the very ground shook. Their fight had an explosive start as each of them was trying to overpower the other two.

6 Laxus Vs. Raven Tail Was Just Laxus Doing What He Does Best

Laxus went up against a fellow known as Alexei in the tournament, and the beginning of the battle didn't look too good. Alexei appeared to be beating Laxus terribly, but it was all an illusion. In reality, Laxus was confronted by the entire Raven Tail Guild and Alexei revealed himself to be Laxus' father, Ivan, who was looking for a secret Fairy Tail had kept hidden.

After their exchange, Laxus was attacked by the guild's elite members but he very easily defeated all of them and landed a devastating punch on his dad. The illusion cleared and fans could see that Laxus had not just won the match, but beat the entire Raven Tail Guild.

5 Operation Fairy Stars Showed Off The Tactical Mind Of Fairy Tail's First Master

At the beginning of the Battle Royale, the team from Fairy Tail stood at their position while everyone else stormed the city to fight each other. Every Fairy Tail member present was furious that their own team didn't move, but Mavis revealed that it was all a strategy of hers.

After watching all the matches before the final day closely, she fully understood the behavioral patterns of all the wizards present and came up with a strategy for their team to follow. The Fairy Tail Team eventually charged in and when they did, they began tearing it up. They took down opponent after opponent, and even after falling through the ranks, they wound up in first place once again.

4 Laxus Vs. Jura Proved That Fairy Tail Had The Strongest Wizards On The Continent

Wizard Saint Jura was powering his way through the tournament as he was one of the strongest fighters on the continent. During the Battle Royale, Jura interrupted the fight between Laxus and Orga, stating that it was too enticing to pass on. Orga challenged Jura to a test of strength, but Jura made quick work of him and prepared to face Laxus.

At first, it seemed Jura beat Laxus with a single hit, but Laxus stood up a dealt a lightning-infused uppercut on Jura. Their fight raged on - much to people's surprise considering that Laxus was on par with a Wizard Saint. At the climax of the fight, Laxus cast his Secret Art spell for the first time on screen, and with it he dealt a devastating final blow to Jura who congratulated Laxus while falling to the ground.

3 The Battle Of The Dragon Slayers Was So Satisfying To Watch

The fight between the Dragon Slayers was the match everyone was waiting for. Fairy Tail's Gajeel and Natsu faced off against Saber-Tooth's Sting and Rogue in a fight known as The Battle Of The Dragon Slayers. Gajeel and Natsu dominated their opponents without even trying and proved that they were in a league of their own.

Each power-up from Sting and Rogue was met with fierce counter attacks from Gajeel and Natsu. Even after Sting unleashed his Dragon Force on both of them, they simply shrugged it off, claiming that they only wanted to learn all their little quirks. The entire match had viewers in a roller coaster of emotions.

2 Natsu Vs. The Twin Dragons Was The Perfect Follow Up

After watching the Twin Dragons, Sting and Rogue of the Saber-Tooth Guild, act so full of themselves before and all through the games, fans were excited when Gajeel and Natsu proved just how weak the Twin Dragons were compared to them.  After hilariously ditching Gajeel, Natsu faced off against Sting and Rogue on his own. Without even using his full power, he easily dominated them both and won despite the Twin Dragons giving it their all. The arena was shaking from all the cheers from the crowd as this victory propelled the Fairy Tail Guild to first place.

1 Fairy Tail's Victory Was A Thrilling And Expected Outcome

Though the competition was a tough one, there was no question that Fairy Tail would win it. The Fairy Tail Guild came there to prove one point: that they were still more powerful than any other guild present. Even after starting out in last place, all they needed was a single victory to get the ball rolling. Each team member played their part in the guild's rise to the top, and at the end, no one doubted the might of the Fairy Tail Guild. It was wonderful to see all the people who booed them at the beginning cheering for them at the end.
