Marvel Gives Iron Man a Body Horror-Fueled Redesign in Darkhold

Iron Man gets a drastic redesign in Marvel's upcoming Darkhold event, with the Armored Avenger receiving a body horror makeover.

Darkhold Alpha #1 by writer Steve Orlando and artist Cian Tormey kicks off the mystical Marvel saga, as Scarlet Witch and Doctor Doom must work together to keep the Darkhold text from causing chaos on the Marvel Universe. Darkhold: Iron Man #1 by writer Ryan North and artist Guillermo Sanna, and Darkhold: Blade #1 by writer Daniel Kibblesmith and artist Federico Sabbatini are two of the tie-in one-shots continuing the story.

Darkhold: Iron Man finds Tony Stark reading from the book's text as he prepares to face the dreaded god Chthon. The result leaves Iron Man trapped in his armored prison.

Tormey's "Defiled" character designs for Iron Man give a better look at how his body will become a twisted mess of flesh and metal.

The Darkhold: Iron Man #1 goes on sale Oct. 13 from Marvel Comics.
