With the movie coming out in just a few months, another trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage has been released, and it fittingly focuses even more on the titular villain, showing how he comes to be and his first big rampage. Other characters are also spotlighted, most obviously Venom and Eddie Brock, who are even more of an odd couple than they were in the first film.
Several answers to burning questions are provided in Venom 2's newest trailer, but it seems like the movie will have a far scarier villain than the first. So, with only a few months left before release, here's a look at the new trailer's key moments and how they could unfold.
As mentioned, Carnage takes center stage in the trailer, with Woody Harrelson's demented take on the character being given a bit of introspection. He claims to not be crazy and states that his desire is simply to enact, well, carnage, and he's soon shown doing just that to the guards at the Ravencroft Institute when his newly empowered form makes quick work of them.
His origin is also hinted at, with him biting Eddie Brock when Brock comes to interview him and stating that his blood doesn't taste anything like it should. This is more than likely how the Carnage symbiote bonds with Kasady, which is a massive change from the pair's usual origin in the comics.
As always, Eddie and his alien symbiote are not the best of friends, and their arguments will reach a fever pitch in the movie, as proven in the trailer. Much of this stems from Venom's violent nature, as he wishes to go out and enact his own homicidal form of lethal protection on the evildoers of the night. Unfortunately for him, Eddie rejects these impulses and instead wants to simply get his life back on track.
This causes Venom to fight Eddie, headbutting him before doing it again to get him to finally become more proactive. The two going in different directions also manifests in other parts of the trailer, both when it comes to Anne Weying's fiance and the first confrontation with the eponymous Carnage.
Anne Weying, portrayed by Michelle Williams, is still a vital part of the sequel's story. She's recently become engaged to her boyfriend Dan Lewis from the previous film, which is obviously not something that either Eddie or Venom are particularly happy about. A picture of her is also shown in the trailer, though the point at which it's shown suggests that it could be either Eddie pining over her or even Carnage using his knowledge of her as bait against Eddie.

Toward the end of the trailer, Venom/Eddie are shown approaching Carnage for the first time. The usually verbose and headstrong Venom, however, retreats immediately after seeing Carnage, and for a color-coded reason. Venom is alarmed that Carnage is a "red one," suggesting that symbiotes with such a color scheme are even more powerful and violent than the others.
It's only after Eddie promises Venom to have free rein on all those who he wishes to eat that the symbiote even comes back out to fight, but this definitely establishes that Carnage might be a cut above even Venom himself. This turns the anti-hero into an underdog, or better yet, a loser, increasing the stakes and guaranteeing a dramatic battle when the fight between symbiotes finally reaches maximum Carnage.
It's worth noting that there's not much in way of new footage shown of Shriek. When the same footage of Shriek from the first trailer is shown, however, a line from Eddie is heard concerning him and Venom being locked up in Area 51. From this, it can be ascertained that mutates/mutants/metahumans are detained by the government for research, especially if their abilities are deemed to be dangerous.
To see how these trailer moments play out, Venom: Let There Be Carnage arrives in theaters Sept. 24.
