Marvel: 10 Stories Featuring White Vision In The Comics | CBR

Fans of Disney+'s WandaVision were introduced to a new version of Vision known as Project: Cataract. However, most fans refer to this version of the character as White Vision, given the character's new pale coloring and his history in the comics.

While the mystery of the MCU's Project: Cataract has yet to be further developed following his debut in WandaVision, there are quite a few comic appearances of White Vision that fans can check out to learn more about the character. His time as White Vision was relatively short, but he still appeared in a few major storylines.

10 "Vision Quest" Introduced White Vision For The First Time And Ran Through Multiple Storylines

Following Vision's takeover of the government's computer systems during the "Ultimate Vision" storyline that ran in Avengers, he was kidnapped by the government and dismantled. When the Avengers were able to retrieve his parts and rebuild him, it was without his usual red and green coloring or his emotions.

Scarlet Witch and the new Vision began working with the West Coast Avengers, where they learned the tragic truth of their twins from Master Pandemonium in "Fragments of a Greater Darkness." That storyline further ended the relationship between Wanda and Vision and sets up her turn to evil in "Darker than Scarlet."

9 Avengers Spotlight Followed Vision's Attempt To Find A Purpose In "Re/Vision"

When Vision was rebuilt it was without the brain patterns of Simon Williams/Wonder Man, who initially refused to provide them for Vision a second time. Avengers Spotlight #40 followed the synthezoid on a quest to find himself which led him to Dr. Miles Lipton, a specialist in artificial intelligence.

Dr. Lipton was responsible for providing Vision with his first holographic human form that would become known as Victor Shade. However, he was also able to input his deceased son Alexander Lipton's brain patterns into the Vision in time for him to save them both from Roxxon's goons, who were after Lipton's advanced technology.

8 Vision Worked With Both Teams Of Avengers During The Acts of Vengeance Attack

The Vision's time with the West Coast Avengers was filled with drama and traumatic revelations for both Vision and his former wife Scarlet Witch, which led to his decision to return to the eastern headquarters of the Avengers.

Unfortunately, this decision occurred during the Acts of Vengeance event, which saw Loki organize a group of villains to take down Marvel's heroes. Vision first faced the U-Foes alongside the West Coast Avengers before he joined the regular team to take on villains like Freedom Force, The Mandarin, and The Wizard.

7 He Fought With Spider-Man And The Avengers To Save The Universe From Nebula

One of White Vision's first missions after his return to the Avengers saw them team up with Spider-Man in order to deal with the threat of the space pirate known as Nebula. She had disguised herself as a human in order to steal a device called the Atomic Compressor in a bid for ultimate power.

While the first test of the machine nearly erased the entire universe, Nebula later succeeded in gaining incredible amounts by combining cosmic components to create The Stranger's Infinity Union. Thankfully, White Vision, Spider-Man, and the Avengers were able to stop her before she was able to gain control of her new abilities in "Nebula Triumphant".

6 Vision And The Avengers Tried To Stop The Start Of WWIII During "The Crossing Line"

Avengers #319-324 featured White Vision and the Avengers in an international incident that threatened to turn into World War III in a storyline called "The Crossing Line." Russian terrorists known as the Peace Corps hijacked a nuclear submarine, which led to tense battles between the Avengers, Russia's People's Protectorate, and even the Atlanteans.

The battle for the submarine carried over to Canada which brought Alpha Flight into the mix as well. In a shocking turn of events, the heroic teams lost the battle and the nukes were detonated, though they eventually managed to pull a magical win out of their hats in the final moments.

5 He Fought With New Teammate Rage Against The Tetrarchs of Entropy And The Sons Of The Serpent

White Vision was on the Avengers when they accepted a new costumed hero known as Rage onto the team as a reserve member while they dealt with the threat of other-dimensional beings called the Tetrarchs of Entropy.

The ongoing storyline saw Rage training with the Avengers as a new team was chosen that kept White Vision on the active roster. However, a team-up between Rage, the New Warriors and the Avengers to take on the racist group known as the Sons of the Serpents led to Rage's expulsion from the team after he and the New Warriors stole an Avengers quinjet.

4 The Avengers Faced Off Against The Collector And The Brethren In "The Collection Obsession"

As the new roster of the Avengers continued to change, White Vision remained with the team during "The Collection Obsession" storyline that ran through Avengers #334-339. The Inhumans enlisted the aid of the Avengers to deal with the alien threat of Thane Ector and The Brethren.

They had taken over The Collector's ship and planned to launch an attack on Earth, though it was ultimately revealed to be a ruse by The Collector. He used The Brethren as weapons to take over the Earth, though the Avengers were able to turn Thane to their side and fight against The Collector.

3 Vision Was Assigned To The Shi'ar Team Of Space-Bound Avengers During Operation: Galactic Storm

1992's Operation: Galactic Storm evet ran through a number of titles as the Avengers found themselves in the middle of an intergalactic war between the Kree and the Shi'ar empires that threatened to destabilize Earth's sun. White Vision was assigned to the space-bound Avengers team that was headed to the Shi'ar throneworld to try to negotiate peace.

He was joined by Captain Marvel (Monica Rambeau), Thor (Eric Masterson), Scarlet Witch, Living Lightning, Starfox and Wonder Man. The Shi'ar team fought against the Imperial Guard and failed to halt the detonation of a powerful super-weapon that destroyed the Kree homeworld. Vison then helped vengeful Avengers exterminate the Supreme Intelligence for his actions.

2 He Returned To The West Coast Avengers To Take On His Maker In "Ultron Unbound"

White Vision briefly returned to the ranks of the West Coast Avengers during the "Ultron Unbound" storyline, which saw the evil robot gain a new adamantium body as he attempted to bring about the extinction of all life on Earth. The Vision appeared to take on his creator and save the team from an attacking Ultron, though he was unsuccessful.

This storyline featured Ultron's creation of Alkhema and saw the West Coast Avengers face off against the earlier versions of Ultron. Vision was instrumental in the fight as he was able to turn his body into an adamantium magnet which helped trap Ultron and Alkhema on a rocket that was then launched into space.

1 Vision Regained His Original Look In "The Gatherer's Saga" When He Switched Bodies With Anti-Vision

White Vision remained with the team alongside heroes like Black Widow, Hercules, Black Knight, Crystal, and Sersi. They first encountered the team of multiversal exiles known as the Gatherers who were led by an alternate version of Black Knight named Proctor. The Gatherers were all alternate reality versions of Avengers who attempted to kill and replace their counterparts.

This included a character named Anti-Vision, who was still in his original body. Anti-Vison swapped bodies with White Vision to infiltrate the Avengers, though the plan failed and Vision ultimately regained his original look and personality. Anti-Vision returned in The Vision miniseries and attempted to get his body back, but he was ultimately beaten and captured.
