Shang-Chi Posters Spotlight the MCU's Newest Fan-Favorite BFFs

Marvel Studios has a brand new dynamic duo.

Following the massive opening for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Marvel Studios has unveiled two new character posters for the film. The latest posters feature the return of Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery and Morris, a hundun. In the posters seen below, Slattery is seen sporting a far different look than he had in Iron Man 3, while Morris can be seen lounging adorably.

Prior to the release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Marvel Studios managed to keep Kingsley's return as Slattery mostly under wraps until the film's premiere. When Kingsley was photographed on the red carpet, fans took it as confirmation of his long-awaited return as Slattery following the short, All Hail the King. They were quickly proven right upon the film's release, where we are reintroduced to the Shakespearean-loving actor after the real leader of the Ten Rings had him busted out of jail by his followers. He was set to be killed, but his acting had spared him for the duration of time before the events of the film.

It is then that fans are also introduced to the lovable Morris, a hundun who quickly steals the show. Like Slattery, Morris has been sent to the dungeon, locked away from everyone and everything. He was being kept by Shang-Chi's father, Wenwu, because he's from Ta Lo, like his late wife, Ying Li. Wenwu was hopeful the creature could lead him back to Ta Lo, which is why he's kept the faceless creature alive.

Of course, as we learn, Morris did not aid Wenwu in his quest to find Ta Lo. Instead, he sought to return home and helps Shang-Chi protect the people of Ta Lo with Slattery's help. As a hundun, Morris lacks a face, making it impossible for him to communicate with others. Slattery, however, can understand him just fine after the time they've spent together in the dungeons.

With both Slattery and Morris having survived the final battle in Ta Lo, it remains to be seen when - and if - we'll see the duo together again. One thing for sure, following the posters' debut, is that Morris appears to be Marvel's next fan-favorite and breakout star. The film had had a massive opening over Labor Day weekend, but fans will have to wait for news of a potential sequel, despite the studio having recently announced a slew of new 2024 dates.

Directed and co-written by Destin Daniel Cretton, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is exclusively in theaters now.
