Stranger Things Reveals Season 4's New Locale During TUDUM | CBR

Stranger Things has released all-new footage showing off Season 4's location, characters and more.

The footage dropped during Netflix's first-ever TUDUM event, a global fan experience showcasing some of the streaming platform's most anticipated projects coming out in the near future. One of Netflix's earliest and most popular shows, Stranger Things had its last season release on July 4, 2019. Since then, fans have only had teaser trailers to hold them over and theorize about what will happen in the next season, the latest footage filling only adding to that by introducing the series' newest location, the Creel House.

The Duffer Brothers, Gaten Matarazzo and Joe Keery introduced fans to the Creel House, Keery even noting that "It's very creepy." Teased to be a very important location in the upcoming season, the new footage shows the characters who remained in Hawkins exploring the abandoned house, whose previous inhabitants, a family of four, appeared to have met an unfortunate fate. Fans get treated to horror elements like a dead rabbit, ominous grandfather clock, glimpses of the Upside Down and worse to terrify and/or delight viewers.

Season 3 ended with many of the show's protagonists scattered about the world. Eleven left Hawkins, Indiana along with the Byers family (including Joyce, Jonathan and Will) following the death of her adoptive father, Jim Hopper. Of course, Hopper isn't actually dead, but wound up on the other side of the globe as a prisoner of Russia following the group's altercation with the Soviet Union's forces last season. The remaining cast, including the likes of Dustin, Steve, Max, Lucas and others, stayed in Hawkins.

It has been known that the upcoming season would be set a few months later in 1986, the year of movies like Top Gun and Aliens, the iconic Crisis on Infinite Earths comic book storyline wrapping, Super Mario Bros. available to play following its Sept. 1985 release and more. With Hopper's new look and a teaser showing him in the frozen landscape of Russia, it was also clear that viewers would not see the series' stars in the town of Hawkins alone like previous seasons (though there was that one time Eleven made it all the way to Chicago).

Many stars have described Season 4 as the scariest, biggest season yet. "The scale of the show just gets bigger and bigger each year," said Max actor Sadie Sink, along with Dustin actor Matarazzo joking in a separate interview that he doesn't "know if like, the toddlers, are going to enjoy it as much," claiming that the series is really "going for it" with the horror in the next season.

Of course, the addition of horror icon and Freddy Krueger actor Robert Englund as a murderer and prisoner, named Victor Creel, of a psychiatric hospital (a bit of a twist on Nightmare On Elm St 3: Dream Warriors) only highlights the darker tone fans will have to wait and see. Stanger Things stars Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Matarazzo, Sink, Keery and more. Season 4 does not have an official release date, but is eyeing a 2022 debut.
