Thor Vs Superman: Snyderverse's Man of Steel Would Kill Hemsworth's MCU God

The Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Extended Universe offer plenty of powerful heroes and villains. However, none compare to Superman and Thor. But from a film perspective, it's hard to believe that Thor could top Superman when at their peak in strength and power. So, with that said, let's examine the powers and skills of bother Superman and Thor when at their peak in their respective film universes and explore why the Man of Steel is the most capable of finishing off the God of Thunder with little to no struggle.

Before his power boost in Thor: Ragnarok, the God of Thunder was already powerful. But by realizing his true potential, he could call down the lighting with ease and greater potency. And as a result of his exploits and his father's death, Thor also grew stronger thanks to the Thorforce. In Avengers: Infinity War, he was even able to withstand the full brunt of a star before passing out and help in the creation of his new weapon, Stormbreaker, which aided him in his fight with Thanos.

Stormbreaker had all of the powers of Mjolnir, but rather than being worthy in order to carry it, only those who could handle its power could fight with it. If it turns out they can't handle the ax, its power could drive them mad, meaning the weapon requires discipline both physically and mentally. While Thanos, Thor and Captain America have held the weapon, Thor's 1,500 years of experience and battle-toughness make him the most adept at wielding it.

Before his sacrifice in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Superman was already a force to be reckoned with. He could stand toe to toe with Kryptonians and Doomsday and could pull a massive shipping vessel with ease. But for his entire life, he has forced himself to hold back his full potential. When he was resurrected in Zack Snyder's Justice League, however, the remaining team members were able to witness the Man of Steel go unchecked firsthand. Because he was an amnesiac, Superman didn't feel the need to hold back, and he beat Wonder Woman and Aquaman with ease and kept up with the Flash.

But even after he comes to his senses, Clark's post-resurrection strength is unmatched. Where the Justice League struggled to take on Steppenwolf and his army, Superman took on the warlord with little trouble. He even humiliated him in front of his army after beating him down using his heat vision to slice off a horn. Ultimately, the DCEU has held back Superman's potential, but even the smallest glimpse is enough to prove how powerful he truly is.

But what separates Thor and Superman's abilities are limitations. For Thor, he is limited only by his skills and strength -- while he is good at making large entrances, he suffers in a fight because he never pushes himself past his limits. In addition, with no power source to make him stronger, he has a power ceiling.

Superman, on the other hand, is only limited to the amount of energy he can absorb from the sun. When fully charged, the Man of Steel is faster, stronger and potentially more ruthless. Because he can see and move as fast as the Flash, he immediately puts Thor at a disadvantage. Couple that with heat vision, which is faster and more ranged than Stormbreaker, and he could easily destroy the God of Thunder. In the end, Superman's untapped strength is enough to even top Thor's 1,500 years of battle experience.
