Venom Clip Teases Carnage's Prison Break | CBR

Venom: Let There Be Carnage will hit theater screens very soon. As the premiere draws closer, Sony's marketing for the film teases increasingly more explosive action, most recently revealing how violent Carnage's prison break will be.

Sony released a new promotional clip, hyping audiences up for the film's release. "Tell the world that [Venom: Let There Be Carnage] is almost here! Get tickets now and experience it exclusively in movie theaters October 1." The clip attached offered glimpses at new scenes from what looks to be Carnage's prison break scene, in which he is shown throwing officers around with his weapons and tendrils.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage will introduce audiences to a number of different supervillains, such as Shriek, played by Naomie Harris. The supervillain is one of a handful that ever got close to Carnage in the comics. During the "Maximum Carnage" crossover event, Shriek and Carnage became lovers and started a twisted supervillain family of their own.

The event also showed that Cletus Kasady's symbiote, unlike Venom, had bonded much more closely with its host and resided in Cletus' blood. Anything as simple as a needle pricking the serial killer's skin was all it took to let the symbiote loose. That was how Cletus was able to escape the Ravencroft maximum security prison in "Maximum Carnage," which appears to have inspired the upcoming sequel film.

Actor Woody Harrelson, who plays Kasady and lends his voice to Carnage, previously explained, "It's wild, because in a way, you're playing two characters in one... So there was a lot of discussion about the voice and also discussions with Tom [Hardy], but obviously with Andy [Serkis], who directed it. And I just kept messing with the voice, and I was thinking to myself, 'Who's going to know the difference, if Andy Serkis did the voice, who's a master of voices? Why don't you do it, Andy?' And no, he was insistent that I do it, but I really... I like how it turned. Obviously, effects are put on the voice, but I really like how it all turned out."

Some of the excitement surrounding Venom: Let There Be Carnage stems from its rumored connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Venom's comic book foe, Spider-Man. Audio from the post-credits scene reportedly leaked recently, seemingly confirming a connection between the two previously distant universes. Neither Sony nor Marvel Studios has debunked these rumors.
