My Hero Academia: Best 10 Transformation Quirks, Ranked | CBR

With five seasons complete and more to come, My Hero Academia has earned a lot of fans thanks to the diverse superpowers on display. There are so many of them, and of so many different types, that the author has included a categorization, dividing them into emitter, mutant, and transformation Quirks.

Emitter Quirks are by far the most popular ones, while mutant Quirks receive a lot of backlash. Transformation Quirks rank somewhere in between. If they could be described in one word, it would be potential. A powerful transformation Quirk can easily fight off even the strongest emitter type.

10 Kamui Woods' Arbor Has A Big Weakness, But Is A Very Useful Quirk

One of the very first Quirks to appear in My Hero Academia, Arbor is the ability used by Pro Hero Kamui Woods. It allows Kamui to generate wood from any part of his body and control it at will. Arbor is very useful in both combat and rescue operations. Kamui's Lacquered Chain Prison is an efficient way to immobilize enemies, as evidenced by the attack on the League of Villains.

The numerous branches of wood can easily extract civilians and take them to safety, while also enhancing Kamui's evasion and locomotion abilities. Arbor does have a significant weakness, in that it is ineffective in dangerous situations that involve fire. Still, Arbor's overall versatility and strength make it a very powerful Quirk.

9 Mount Lady's Gigantification Comes With Collateral Damage, But A Lot Of Power

Like Arbor, Mount Lady's Gigantification shows up at the very beginning of the anime, when she interrupts Kamui Wood's arrest of a villain with a Quirk similar to hers. Also owned by one of the most powerful villains of MHA, Gigantomachia, Gigantification allows its users to grow their bodies to gigantic proportions.

Gigantification is impractical in small spaces and can do a lot of collateral damage, but it's also incredibly powerful. For a hero, it's tricky to use. Mount Lady isn't as cautious with it as she should be and she doesn't have fine control over Gigantification. If she did, she would find it much easier to become a high-ranking Pro Hero. The villainous Gigantomachia has a much easier time and is incredibly destructive as a result.

8 Muscular And Hood's Muscle Augmentation Can Resist Blows From Deku And Endeavor

Muscle Augmentation is a fairly common transformation Quirk, but it's also a very powerful one. Muscle Augmentation allows its user to manipulate and enhance their muscles, increasing their strength, speed, and durability. One of the most notable users of this Quirk is Muscular, who goes against protagonist Izuku Midoriya during the Forest Training Arc.

Muscular's Muscle Augmentation is so powerful it endures the strength of Deku's Detroit Smash. Deku is eventually able to defeat him, but not without considerable effort. The Quirk is also used by the High-End Hood during his fight with Pro-Hero Endeavor. Hood's Muscle Augmentation, as well as his other Quirks, allow him to overwhelm the Pro Hero, but Endeavor ultimately prevails.

7 Suneater's Manifest Turns Him Into A True Chimera

One of U.A.'s Big Three, Tamaki Amajiki has a very interesting Quirk, Manifest. He can transform parts of his body into manifestations related to the things he eats. Examples include octopus tentacles, clam shells, or chicken wings. His Super Moves Chimera Kraken and Chimera Centaur allow him to unleash deadly attacks through his transformed appendages. Manifest's downside is that it only works as long as each individual food item is in his digestive system.

6 Lizard Tail Splitter Makes Setsuna Tokage One Of The Most Versatile Fighters Around

Many students from Class 1-B have memorable Quirks, but Setsuna Tokage is definitely one of the stand-outs. Her ability, Lizard Tail Splitter, allows her to split her body into up to fifty pieces. Each piece can move freely and regenerate if it is destroyed or is separated from Setsuna for too long.

The regeneration process does take up much of Setsuna's stamina, so it is something she prefers to avoid. Lizard Tail Splitter is incredibly versatile, and it would allow Setsuna to take villains by surprise with a fluid fighting style. LTS would also be incredibly useful in intelligence and, once mastered could turn Setsuna into a real powerhouse.

5 Stress Boosts Re-Destro's Strength To Monstrous Proportions

The Meta Ability of Re-Destro, Stress works in a manner very similar to the power of Marvel's Hulk. As Re-Destro becomes stressed, his body grows in mass and his strength increases to an almost monstrous extent. Re-Destro can enhance any individual appendage, and at full power he channels his Quirk through his whole body.

Re-Destro's overwhelming strength is a challenge for Tomura Shigaraki during their confrontation, but Shigaraki's previous battles with Gigantomachia and his Awakening ultimately give him the edge. Re-Destro's Stress also has its disadvantages, as it forces its user to focus on negative emotions and it is weakened whenever Re-Destro experiences something positive.

4 Edgeshot's Mastery Over Foldabody Turns Him Into A True Ninja

A Quirk that allows its user to manipulate the thinness of one's body may not seem all that useful or interesting, yet Edgeshot proves everyone differently. Having mastered Foldabody, he can transform parts of his body into thin blades, creating a ninja-like fighting style. Edgeshot can even transform into string, piercing his opponents' bodies and cutting off their blood flow.

During the heroes' attack on the League of Villains, Edgeshot easily incapacitates Kurogiri before the other villains can even tell what is going on. Foldabody is a truly amazing Quirk, made even more powerful by its user's absolute mastery of it.

3 Himiko Toga's Awakened Transform Turns Her Into A Highly Unpredictable Combatant

Himiko Toga's Quirk, Transform, has always been useful to the League of Villains. By ingesting her victims' blood, Himiko is able to transform into them for a limited amount of time. This made her an incredible asset in intelligence operations, as she has managed to fool the heroes with her disguises on more than one occasion.

After her Awakening, however, Transform becomes even more potent. Awakened Transform allows Himiko to use the Quirks of the people she turns into. While Himiko's power is limited by the amount of blood she consumes, Transform makes her an incredibly dangerous and unpredictable combatant.

2 Ryukyu's Dragon Allows Its User To Turn Into A Mythological Creature

The Quirk of the Number Ten hero Ryukyu, Dragon allows its user to transform into a mythological creature. Using her ability, Ryukyu significantly increases in size, gaining massive wings, powerful jaws, and claws. Her durability and strength are remarkable, and she has shrugged off blows from powerful opponents with no issue. She is also capable of restraining her opponent if she has to and despite her size, she doesn't seem to have the same collateral damage problem Mount Lady does.

1 Super Regeneration Is An Incredible Weapon In All For One's Hands

All for One has collected a lot of Quirks throughout his long criminal career, but perhaps one of his most useful is Super Regeneration. Super Regeneration is a Quirk he himself has, but is also passed onto Tomura Shigaraki and the nomu. The Quirk is so powerful it allows its user to heal from extreme injuries, including regenerating limbs.

There are some drawbacks, as Super Regeneration cannot regenerate wounds that have already been cauterized. Powerful heroes like Endeavor and All Might have also proven themselves capable to damage a nomu faster than it can regenerate. Still, Super Regeneration is an incredible weapon in All for One's hands, and has made the villain's nomu army ten times more dangerous.
