Naruto: 5 Characters Who'd Make Great Avengers (& 5 Who Wouldn't)

The Naruto universe is one of shonen's best, taking place in a fantasy setting where ninjas, tailed beasts and supernatural ninjutsu are the norm. Highly trained shinobi are used to risking their very lives for a mission's sake, though this lifestyle is packed with hardship and dangers of all kinds. Veteran ninjas have more than a few scars.

The strongest, smartest and most dedicated shinobi are like superheroes or supervillains from comic books, especially with their incredible ninjutsu and taijutsu techniques and cool costumes, so perhaps Nick Fury would recruit them to join the Avengers in the MCU universe. Some shinobi have what it takes to fight alongside Iron Man, Captain America, and other costumed legends.

10 GOOD AVENGER: Might Guy Is A Melee Monster

Might Guy is a taijutsu master and enthusiast, though he is capable of some ninjutsu, and he also likes to use weapons such as nunchucks. He is the one who trained Rock Lee to become who he is today, and Might Guy also has a one-sided but healthy rivalry with Kakashi Hatake.

Might Guy's incredible taijutsu techniques and indomitable will would make him a fine fit for the Avengers, acting like a more refined Drax the Destroyer or a slightly watered-down Hulk. Might Guy may act silly at times, but he can also be deadly serious, and will do anything for the mission. He'd gladly kick Thanos in the face.

9 BAD AVENGER: Shino Aburame's Chakra Beetles Aren't Needed

Shino Aburame is a quiet but serious Leaf Village ninja who belongs to Team 8, along with Kiba Inuzuka and Hinata Hyuga. His family's unique fighting style is centered around swarms of chakra-hungry beetles, which can rapidly drain the opponent dry.

Shino can also use those beetles to scout the enemy and make clones, among other ninjutsu, but this won't impress Nick Fury. MCU villains such as Thanos, Loki and the robotic Ultron don't use chakra, and Shino's beetles lack the necessary firepower to face these foes.

8 GOOD AVENGER: Temari Uses Formidable Wind Jutsu

Temari hails from the Land of Wind, which is home to the Hidden Sand Village. True to her homeland's element, Temari the shinobi can use powerful wind-based jutsu, most of which comes from her oversized fan. She can even fly around on that fan, treating it as an airborne surfboard or glider.

Temari can blast away groups of enemy soldiers with her wind, such as the Chitauri or Ultron's robots, and her summoning jutsu produces a weasel who can fling ultra-sharp wind blades everywhere. That's impressive, and Temari is also a professional and cool-headed shinobi with some tactical talents. Nick Fury can accept that.

7 BAD AVENGER: Choji Akimichi Is Redundant With The Hulk Around

There are some Naruto shinobi who might have made it into the Avengers as a second-line fighter, but they are redundant with what the Avengers already have. Nick Fury needs ninjas who bring something new to the table, or at least, ninjas who aren't identical to an existing Avenger.

Choji Akimichi is fairly strong, but he's simply a brute-force fighter, and the Avengers already have the Incredible Hulk for that, so he won't be accepted. Might Guy is also a brute melee fighter, but he has better technique than Choji, and is smarter, too.

6 GOOD AVENGER: Lady Tsunade Can Devastate Her Foes & Heal Her Allies

Lady Tsunade is one of the legendary Sannin, mega-powerful shinobi who were trained by Hiruzen Sarutobi himself years ago. Tsunade can summon giant slugs in battle, which is more impressive than it sounds, and she has a few more talents to offer, too, including her incredibly strong kicks and punches.

Most of all, Tsunade is a master medical ninja, and she personally trained Sakura Haruno to become a medic herself. This is better than any first-aid kit S.H.I.E.L.D. can offer, and Nick Fury would gladly recruit Tsunade to rapidly heal any wounds the Avengers sustain in battle.

5 BAD AVENGER: Karui Lacks The Necessary Firepower

Karui is from the Hidden Cloud Village, a mountainous place of lightning release jutsu. Karui is a chunin who fights hard for her village's sake, but notably, she also has a fierce temper and a stubborn streak. She can be a real headache for her teammates at times.

This isn't the kind of attitude a good Avenger would have, and most importantly, her skills simply aren't Avengers level. Karui is a capable chunin, but Nick Fury can afford to be picky with recruitment, and Karui will be rejected.

4 GOOD AVENGER: Sai Can Scout & Support His Allies With Ink Animals

Sai the shinobi was introduced in Naruto: Shippuden's second story arc as Sasuke Uchiha's replacement in Team 7, and he is quite different from Sasuke. Instead of the Sharingan or Chidori, Sai uses an ink brush to create animals with his jutsu, and they can do just about anything.

Those animals can attack the enemy, scout the area, transport people in the air and even capture enemies. Sai is also a cool-headed but loyal tactician, so all these factors together make him acceptable as an Avenger. His flexibility makes up for his relatively low firepower by Avengers standards.

3 BAD AVENGER: Ino Yamanaka Is Too Vulnerable

Ino Yamanaka is a clever support ninja, and overall, she is more effective in her own universe than she would be in the MCU as a rookie Avenger. She can sense people's chakra from afar, which helps her team gather battlefield intelligence, and she has decent medical abilities, too.

However, the Avengers would recruit Tsunade as their healer, not Ino, and Ino's chakra-sensing does nothing in the MCU. Also, Ino is a bit too vulnerable while using her mind transfer jutsu and similar genjutsu techniques. She's better off staying in the Land of Fire than fighting in NYC or Sokovia.

2 GOOD AVENGER: Minato Namikaze Has Superior Speed, Firepower & Leadership Skills

The Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, was an incredibly powerful shinobi in his day, and as the Leaf Village's Hokage, he also had notable leadership skills and charisma, just like Captain America. He tended to fight up close, using taijutsu and most of all, the Rasengan technique.

Minato's legendary speed is useful on both offense and defense, and he can also summon Gamabunta if he faces a truly powerful foe. Nick Fury would be impressed and recruit Minato as an Avengers squad leader alongside Captain America.

1 BAD AVENGER: Haku's Ice Mirrors Are Too Limited For MCU Fights

Haku the rogue ninja has a memorable kekkei genkai, which was powerful by early Naruto standards. Haku can create an array of reflective ice mirrors to surround his target, then rapidly move between the mirrors while throwing needles at the target.

This can easily keep a single enemy or a small squad trapped, which is effective for ambushes. Such a jutsu is a poor fit for MCU-style battles, though, especially a large battle against the Chitauri or Ultron robots, or even Thanos' elite minions. Haku's needles aren't nearly strong enough to take those foes down, anyway.
