Paramount+'s official description for the upcoming show reads, "Season four of STAR TREK: DISCOVERY finds Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery facing a threat unlike any they’ve ever encountered. With Federation and non-Federation worlds alike feeling the impact, they must confront the unknown and work together to ensure a hopeful future for all."

The Star Trek: Discovery panel was moderated by culture journalist Karama Horne and featured series stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, Wilson Cruz, David Ajala, Blu del Barrio and showrunner and executive producer Michelle Paradise.

The show takes place a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series, which ran from 1966 to 1969, and bears certain connections to the show. Its central character, Captain Michael Burnham was revealed in Discovery to be the adoptive sister of the iconic Vulcan, Spock, which caused debate among the fanbase concerning the show's consistency with the original series. However, Martin-Green and Burnham have been generally well-received by audiences.
