Halo TV Series' First Teaser Debuts Earlier Than Expected | CBR

The teaser trailer for Halo, the upcoming series produced by Paramount, leaks ahead of its official debut.

The brief clip, discovered on Twitter, doesn't reveal much in terms of the show's plot. The footage slowly highlights aspects of the franchise's core protagonist Master Chief Petter Officer John-117. His gloves, emblem and the back of his helmet are all revealed, followed by a voice simply saying, "Hello, Master Chief." It's likely that the speaker is Cortana, a hyper-intelligent AI that acts as a companion to Master Chief throughout the series. The teaser ends off by highlighting the show's logo, which looks similar to the one used in the video games, accompanied by the franchise's haunting theme song.

While fans are no doubt excited for Master Chief's live-action adventure, the development of Halo has been a troubled one. After losing several key members, production began in late 2019. Paramount has been tight-lipped on the actual content of the show but a series of leaked images seem to confirm several iconic characters fans will undoubtedly recognize, including one of the Covenant's High Prophets. Various vehicles such as UNSC Warthogs and Pelicans can also be identified.

Speaking to the Halo show's take on Master Chief, executive producer Kiki Wolfhard said, "The biggest challenge with adapting the game is, the game is designed to put you into [Master] Chief’s armor. What we’re asking people to do with the show is to sit back and say we’re going to present a side of Chief that you just don’t get to play in the game." Speaking to the challenges of adapting the beloved video game series, Wolfhard continued on to say, "How do you give a different perspective on them? How do you make their journey meaningful in a different way while respecting their past journey and the things that people love about the journeys they've been on already? It's a constant challenge; sometimes a struggle."

Halo stars Pablo Schreiber, Natascha McElhone, Charlie Murphy and Jen Taylor and is helmed by showrunner Steven Kane. The show is set to air on Paramount+ in early 2022.
