The third installment of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure introduces a wide array of new characters to the series. Between Tokyo and Cairo, Jotaro and his team of Crusaders encounter over 25 villains before they even reach the final boss, DIO.
The series shifts away from the use of Hamon and villains with supernatural vampire powers, to the introduction of Stands, a physical manifestation of one's psychic energy. The Crusaders encounter many Stand users of varying degrees of skills and intelligence. As JoJo's Bizarre Adventure proves, intelligence is not always limited to humans and adults, but sometimes animals and evil babies.
10 Arabia Fats Cleverly Conceals Himself From The Crusaders
The Crusaders encounter Arabia Fats in the desert. Arabia Fats tails the Crusaders then attacks them with his Stand, Sun. His Stand resembles the actual Sun and emits heat and light energy at lethal levels.
By hiding himself behind a giant mirror, Arabia Fats is able to stay close to his Stand, which is a requirement, but also stays hidden from the Crusaders. Although the Crusaders comment that the Stand user must be an idiot for using trickery, he still manages to best the Crusaders in a clever way for a short while.
9 Mannish Boy May Look Like A Baby But He Has The Intelligence Of An Adult
Mannish Boy is a baby that is pawned off on the Crusaders. Mannish Boy may look like an ordinary baby, but he is actually a malicious Stand user and one of DIO's followers tasked with taking out the Joestar group.
Mannish Boy may be a baby, but he is actually a genius and thinks like an adult. He acts like a baby around others as a ploy, allowing them to let their guards down. By doing this, he convinces nearly all of the Joestar group that he is a harmless baby.
8 Daniel J. D'Arby Is A Sly Gambler
Daniel J. D'Arby is another one of DIO's henchmen dispatched to eliminate the Crusaders on their journey to Egypt. The Crusaders become involved with Daniel J. D'Arby when he tells them he has information about DIO's whereabouts.
He cleverly tricks the Crusaders into a gambling match. Daniel J. D'Arby is a very skilled gambler, who cheats to win against his opponents. He feels that as long as his opponents fall for his schemes, and he is not discovered as a cheater, then it is a fair game.
7 Forever The Orangutan Is An Intelligent Creature
The Crusaders encounter Forever the orangutan when they board an oil freighter. Forever uses his Stand Strength to bind to a ruined ship, strengthening it and disguising it, luring the Joestar group right into his trap.
Forever is highly intelligent and has complete psychic control over his Stand. At first, he appears as just a normal orangutan in a cage aboard the ship. It is only after he goes after Anne that he reveals his true nature and his desire to defeat the Crusaders.
6 Pet Shop Can Discern Who Is A Spy
Pet Shop is another Stand-possessing animal in Stardust Crusaders. He is one of the guards of DIO's mansion, and is a particularly ruthless character, hunting down his prey to extreme lengths.
Despite being an animal, Pet Shop is very intelligent, which is displayed in his encounter with the beggar Avdol hires to locate DIO's whereabouts. Pet Shop immediately recognizes him as a spy and destroys all evidence the beggar collects that would reveal DIO's location.
5 Terence T. D'Arby Is An Impressive Video Game Player
Terence T. D'Arby is the younger, but more intelligent brother of Daniel J. D'Arby. He is the first one to greet the Crusaders once they enter DIO's mansion, and he challenges them to video games so he can steal their souls.
Terence T. D'Arby is an avid video game player, and because of his Stand's precognitive ability, he is quite proficient in them and overly confident. He can easily win over souls for his doll collection by using his Stand's mind-reading skill.
4 Muhammad Avdol Is An Expert In Standology
Avdol is one of the first to join Joseph and Jotaro on their mission to defeat DIO. Primarily working as a fortune teller all his life, Avdol has extensive knowledge about Tarot cards and what they represent.
Avdol also seems to possess a great deal of information about Stands, their users, and all the different types. This greatly benefits the group as they encounter many Stand users trying to stop them from reaching DIO.
3 DIO Lets Others Do His Bidding While He Remains Safe In The Shadows
DIO is the main antagonist of Stardust Crusaders but remains in the shadows throughout most of the series. Despite knowing that Joseph and the other Crusaders are after him, DIO remains in his mansion rather than confronting them directly.
This is perhaps the smartest thing DIO does. Instead of fighting, he sends his minions to fight for him. DIO uses his charisma and allure to win over individuals, then he gets them to do his bidding. He is also smart enough to recognize his own weakness. Since he is not fully healed, he cannot use his Stand to its full potential, and he stays hidden until he is ready.
2 Jotaro Is Very Perceptive In Figuring Out Enemy Stands
Jotaro Kujo is a very calm and collected individual, rarely losing his cool even in the direst of situations. One of his greatest strengths is his ability to discern how an enemy's Stand works. He is also very quick to devise a winning strategy.
His perceptiveness is evident in his battle against Terence T. D'Arby. Jotaro figures out that D'Arby's Stand can read minds, so he tricks him in order to defeat him. Jotaro thinks about his move, even saying it out loud, but Hermit Purple is actually controlling his moves, so everything he does in the game is the opposite of what he is thinking.
1 Kakyoin Is A Well-Rounded Student And Strategist
Kakyoin is the most well-rounded of the group, seeming to be highly educated in other cultures. His intelligence extends beyond his knowledge of different customs, as he is also a very adept strategist. With his quick thinking, Kakyoin can devise strategies on the spot, which comes in handy when trying to defeat skilled enemies.
Kakyoin had the foresight to hide Hierophant Green when up against Mannish Boy's Stand, Death Thirteen. He is the only Crusader who suspects Mannish Boy of being a Stand user and ultimately saves all of the Crusaders from being killed. Due to his strategic thinking and analytical skills, Kakyoin even helps the Crusaders after he dies. He's the first one to figure out what DIO's Stand, The World's, true skill is, and sends one last warning message to his friends to help them defeat him.
