Ahead of the launch of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, the mobile game Pokémon Go is hosting a special celebratory event dedicated to the Sinnoh region.
The limited-time event is split into two parts, each one themed around either Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl respectively. Starting on Nov. 16 and running through Nov. 21, Pokémon Go will focus predominately on Brilliant Diamond. Players who venture out into the real world will be able to snag special versions of Piplup, Chimchar and Turtwig, the starter Pokémon of Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, which sport red hats inspired by the latest in Sinnoh fashion.
A selection of Pokémon will also spawn more frequently during this period, including:
- Seel
- Murkrow
- Aron
- Turtwig
- Chimchar
- Piplup
- Bidoof
- Kricketot
- Buneary
- Stunky
This portion of the event will be followed by Shining Pearl, which kicks off on Nov. 18 and ends on Nov. 21. The three starters will ditch their red hats and instead proudly display their white headpieces inspired by protagonist Dawn. As can be expected, the spawn rates for selected Pokémon will similarly be boosted for the duration of the event. These creatures include:
- Pinsir
- Misdreavus
- Houndour
- Spheal
- Turtwig
- Chimchar
- Piplup
- Bidoof
- Kricketot
- Buneary
- Glameow
A Collection Challenge will also be available for the stylish starters, granting players who catch all the variants 1,000 XP, 3,000 Stardust and an encounter with Froslass. New cosmetics will also be added to the game, including costumes inspired by Piplup, Turtwig and Chimchar as well as clothing themed after the protagonists of Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. Unique stickers can also be obtained by spinning PokéStops, opening gifts or directly through the in-game store. The events will also feature a special lineup of Raid Pokémon and pocket monsters obtained via eggs.
Players wanting to experience the majesty of the Sinnoh region don't need to wait much longer. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl will allow fans to travel back to the franchise's fourth generation, originally released on the Nintendo DS. These spruced-up iterations feature a new graphical style, updated systems and a handful of returning mechanics such as stickers for Pokéballs, Contests and the Underground.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl launch on Nov. 19. They will be shortly followed by the spin-off game Pokémon Legends: Arceus, an open-world action-adventure game set in the Hisui region, a province within Sinnoh.
