Riverdale’s Cole Sprouse's Attack on Titan Cosplay 'Settles' for Eren

Riverdale star Cole Sprouse is apparently a fan of Attack on Titan.

Sprouse, who is best known for his portrayal of Jughead Jones on The CW's Riverdale, posted a picture of himself in costume as Eren Yeager from the popular Attack on Titan anime and manga series. Sprouse recreated Yeager's look following the timeskip that occurs in the latter half of the series. While the former The Suite Life of Zack & Cody star pulled off a solid representation of the anime's protagonist, he expressed some disappointment from being too tall to portray Levi Ackerman, the short-in-height but big-on-popularity titan hunter from the Survey Corps. "Wanted to be Levi but I’m not 5’2”," Sprouse wrote on Instagram. Sprouse tagged the post with #tatakae, a Japanese word that means "fight," which Eren repeats to himself several times in a famous scene from the series.

Sprouse and the rest of the series' fandom still have a few more months of waiting to get through before the last half of the final season of the Attack on Titan anime premieres. The final run of the series was recently confirmed for a Jan. 9 premiere date in Japan. A trailer was also released for the Final Season's last batch of episodes, which will adapt the remaining chapters from Hajime Isayama's manga, which came to a divisive conclusion in early 2021. The finale for the series will once again be produced at animation studio MAPPA, who took over production for the show after Wit Studio animated the anime's first three seasons.

Riverdale, meanwhile, is also gearing up for the premiere of its next season on Nov. 16. The popular CW drama about a sleepy town that happens to be home to multiple serial killers, active cults and competing crime syndicates will begin its new arc with a resolution to the fifth seasons' cliffhanger ending, which saw Archie and Bettie caught in the blast of a bomb set by Veronica's father, Hiram Lodge. The season premiere episode, "Welcome to Rivervale," will also see Sprouse's character, Jughead, move in with his new girlfriend, Tabitha. The sixth season of the series will delve into more horror themes, with showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa saying, "Things are a little bit darker, a little bit weirder, a little more twisted in Rivervale.” This arc of the show will also feature an appearance from the teenage witch Sabrina, who will once again be played by Kiernan Shipka in a reprisal of the role from the canceled Netflix series.
