She-Hulk was announced as a Disney+ series back in 2019. Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Alison Brie (Community) were among those rumored to take on the titular role, but it eventually went to Canadian actor Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black). In 2020, Mark Ruffalo was confirmed to reprise his role as Hulk/Bruce Banner in the series. The Good Place's Jameela Jamil was cast as the series' villain, Titania, earlier this year. The show was also previously confirmed to be a half-hour legal comedy, indicating it may be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first take on the procedural genre.

She-Hulk has been at the center of several rumors over the past year or so. Most recently, actor Charlie Cox's celebrated depiction of Matt Murdock/Daredevil from Netflix's canceled series of the same name was rumored to appear in She-Hulk. However, it may not be the Daredevil fans expect. An inside source claimed it will be a "different" version of the character than the one who appeared on Daredevil and The Defenders.

Another rumor suggested the series would have She-Hulk break the fourth wall, Deadpool-style, while Jim Carrey was rumored to have been cast as a live-action version of M.O.D.O.K. and could appear in She-Hulk. Yet another claim detailed that the series sets up the famous "World War Hulk" storyline from the comics for a new Hulk-centric MCU film expected to begin production in 2022.

Created by Stan Lee and John Buscema, Jennifer Walters (aka She-Hulk) debuted on Marvel Comics pages in 1980. The character was introduced as Bruce Banner's cousin, who gains the powers of the Hulk after receiving a blood transfusion from Bruce. However, unlike her cousin, Jennifer remains in her Hulk form without a transformation. In the comics, Jennifer continues her everyday life as a lawyer while also protecting the world as a superhero. She-Hulk has been a member of the Avengers, Fantastic Four and A-Force, an all-women superhero team.

She Hulk's 10-episode first season is set to hit Disney+ in 2022.
