This GTA: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition Glitch Is Too Close and Personal

A new glitch has been discovered in the recently released Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition when using the first-person camera mode with a quad bike in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Many players have been jumping back into the worlds of Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas, but the games aren't as bug or glitch-free as the remastered graphics may suggest. Reddit user u/TheVideoGaymer posted a short GIF of the San Andreas quad bike glitch to the site's r/gaming community. The glitch occurs when riding a quad bike with the first-person camera active and pressing the corresponding button to look behind the player. Instead of looking behind unobscured, though, the player is presented with an extreme close-up of CJ.

The GIF was posted on Nov. 12 and has close to 100,000 upvotes and two gold awards. Furthermore, this is the most upvoted post in the r/gaming subreddit this week. Commenters have had a field day with the clip, too, with one Redditor, u/BadThaiFood, commenting with a YouTube link where they have added the BoJack Horseman theme song to the clip. Rockstar Games also recently released a load of remastered GTA: Trilogy GIFs on their Giphy page, including the classic San Andreas "here we go again" meme, and this clip could potentially be on its way to meme status already.

While the bug does offer a unique insight into how character models behave and appear while the first-person camera is active, some gamers aren't happy with the end product of the remaster. The remastered trilogy includes Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas from the early 2000s. While each entry in the series has been met with overall success, these three are viewed by many to be some of the franchise's classics. The glitch, which mars the remastered experience, is not without its fixes. One Redditor stated that they experimented with turning off HDR on their Xbox Series X, while another mentioned that adjusting the contrast settings would be beneficial.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is available digitally for all major consoles, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. Physical copies of the remastered trilogy will be available from Dec. 7, while iOS and Android versions will be released sometime in 2022.
