Charmed: Mel Finally Shuns Abby | CBR

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Charmed Season 3, Episode 8, "O, The Tangled Web," which aired Sunday on The CW.

Although Mel is known for believing there's a light in Abby, Charmed's latest episode sees Mel giving up hope that the half-demon/half-witch will ever change her manipulative ways. After The Charmed Ones encounter Kyra, a witch who says she was attacked by a demon, Macy is ready to vanquish Abby for breaking her vow to keep witches safe from demons. She even yells at Mel to stop "always appeasing" and helping the Demon Overlord.

Frustrated, Mel decides to confront Abby instead. Although it turns out that Kyra lied about the demon attack, Mel finds Abby doing something inexcusable to Jordan, leading Mel to finally give up on trusting Abby, convinced that she'll always choose the selfish path.

Eventually, Macy and Maggie track down the "demon" that Kyra said attacked her. The demon actually turns out to be a witch from a coven that's been warring with Kyra's family for decades. Unfortunately, Mel doesn't learn this until after she confronts Abby in her home. Abby calls Mel "Angry Spice" for storming into her home unannounced and asks for an apology, as she doesn't believe she's done anything against The Charmed Ones' wishes.

However, Abby isn't in a position to ask for an apology as she was just interrupted from hurling fireballs at Jordan while in demon form. Abby assures Mel that the exchange is a "friendly negotiation" tactic, whereas Jordan says it is a negotiation but it isn't really friendly.

Unbeknownst to Mel, Abby was holding Jordan hostage and throwing fire at him until he agreed to let Abby use her mind-meld powers on him -- taking control of his memories to see if he kept a secret from her -- despite his insistence that he didn't want her in his head. She tries to force him to agree so she can see if he lied to her about her sister.

Disgusted by Abby's demon tactics being used on a mutual friend, Mel calls her "unredeemable" and leaves. The comment shatters Abby, leaving her in tears and asking a weary Jordan if Mel's comment is true. Jordan tells her he doesn't know that, but if she wants to change, that comes from her future actions. Jordan then shows some empathy towards Abby's toxically distrustful ways and agrees to let her mind-meld him.

Abby's heart only breaks more as she learns that Jordan didn't lie to her, there is no secret curse on her demon totem from her sister, and the real reason her demon side is trying to kill her in her sleep is because of herself. Now, Abby needs to figure out what this means without Mel's help, something that she's always needed, despite consistently letting Mel down at every turn.

Charmed stars Sarah Jeffery, Madeleine Mantock, Melonie Diaz, Rupert Evans, Jordan Donica and Poppy Drayton. New episodes air on The CW on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
