In February 2020, Season 3 of The Boys began filming. On March 2, the first look at Supernatural's Jensen Ackles' character, Soldier Boy, appeared on Instagram. A fan-captured photo showed a glimpse of the patriotic hero as he enters the Dawn of the Seven film premiere, which is confirmed to be the universe's in-world Supe film.

Kripke confirmed in December 2020 that Soldier Boy is a Captain America-esque Supe who rose to fame during World War II and knew Storefront/Liberty. "Yes, he knew her when she was Liberty," Kripke stated.
