Marvel Cinematic Universe's Natalie Portman (Jane Foster) has been training hard to become The Mighty Thor in Taika Waititi's upcoming film Thor: Love And Thunder.
Newly leaked set photos show off Jane's new powers, showing her flex strong poses on the ground but also mid-flight, as shared by a fan-site, Natalie Portman Updates, on Twitter.
Photos from Waititi's set showed Portman dressed as modest Jane -- in Chuck Taylor sneakers, a hoodie and jeans -- experimenting with her strength and a newfound ability to fly.
The last snapshot showed the MCU actor laughing by the masked crew on set. In addition, the fansite shared a behind-the-scenes video of the film's VFX team using a prop puppet -- dressed as Jane -- to film a flight scene where Jane flails with her superhero power.
Thor: Love and Thunder will mark Jane Foster's return to the MCU after not being in a Marvel Studios film since 2013's Thor: The Dark World. However, unlike previous Thor films featuring Jane and focusing solely on the Asgardian hero himself, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the fourth Thor film will focus on Jane replacing Thor as the Goddess of Thunder. Inspired by Jason Aaron's Marvel Comics run on Thor and Mighty Thor, the film will follow Jane's transformation into The Mighty Thor while also battling cancer.
Stunt performer Bobby Holland Hanton recently spoiled Mjolnir's return to the MCU, a weapon that fans thought was permanently destroyed after Thor: Ragnarok. Like Mjolnir, other Thor favorites will return in the upcoming film, including Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and an interesting new take on the character Miek.
While it's currently unknown how exactly the Guardians of the Galaxy will factor into the film's plot, it was previously confirmed that Star-Lord and friends will appear in the MCU film. Behind-the-scenes photos shared in February featured a first look at how the Asgardian and the celestial-human will appear, sporting 80s-like attire.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillen as Nebula and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. The film arrives in theaters May 6, 2022.
