Gorr the God Butcher will make his live-action debut in Marvel Cinematic Universe's upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder, portrayed by The Dark Knight's Christian Bale.
While Gorr's MCU look is still being kept under wraps, fans did catch a glimpse of Bale's current hairdo on set. Twitter user @TheGeek_Zone posted some behind-the-scenes photos of Bale on the film's set. In keeping with Gorr's physical appearance, Bale shaved his head.
Gorr debuted in Thor: God of Thunder #2, written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Esad Ribić. In #2, Gorr sought to kill all Gods in the cosmos, drawing his power from his bond with the ancient weapon All-Black, the Necrosword. Unbeknownst to Gorr, All-Black was the first Symbiote ever created and was previously wielded by the God of the Symbiotes, Knull, who also used the weapon to go on a deity killing spree, earning the moniker of Godslayer.
Thor: Love and Thunder will see the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, following her journey to become The Mighty Thor. The Guardians of the Galaxy are set to appear in the upcoming MCU film, along with Russell Crowe in a mysterious role. Previously leaked set photos also teased the return of Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillen as Nebula and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. The film arrives in theaters May 6, 2022.
