Invincible: Do Mark Grayson & Atom Eve End Up Together? | CBR

Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley 's Invincible is bigger than ever, thanks to the success of the Amazon Prime Video animated series. This revitalized interest in the series whose comic book had finished publication for a few years now. This has brought a whole new group of fans to the world of Mark Grayson and the Guardians of the Globe.

Those who've read the comics know that Mark's one true love is Samantha Eve Wilkins, a.k.a. Atom Eve. Just like in the comics, however, he doesn't start out in the show dating her. Mark and Eve's relationship faced several ups and downs, many of which stemmed from their particularly violent super-heroic trappings. Here's a look at the superhero couple's love story and how it ended up when the comic book series came to a close.

Mark and Eve had been friends and colleagues for a while by the time they became romantically involved, having served alongside each other as the superheroes Invincible and Atom Eve. For a time, Eve had been dating Rex Splode, but she eventually revealed to Mark that she harbored feelings for him even during this time. After a battle that led to Eve's temporary kidnapping, the two officially began their relationship with a kiss.

Going on a series of romantic dates around the world, the couple form a security firm called Invincible, Inc.. This would see Eve essentially hiring Mark for various superhero tasks whenever needed, and their first case dovetailed into the Invincible War event. The aftermath of this story had the Viltrumite Conquest attack Mark, with his brief strike at Atom Eve nearly killing her. This caused her to overclock her powers, heavily injuring Conquest and allowing Mark to kill him.

After admitting their love for each other and having a romantic encounter, Eve nervously discovers that she is pregnant by Mark. Unfortunately, he's subsequently dragged into the Viltrumite War, with a distraught Eve having an abortion during the interim. Upon his return, they become closer, Eve becomes pregnant again after she moves in with the Graysons. They name the eventual child Terra, as she represents the Earth to them in their move to the alien world Talescria. Things were strained, however, due to Mark's previous rape at the hands of Anissa. Eve tries to comfort him over this news, but their attempts at making a family continued to struggle. Things only become more complicated when, after going off into space for a battle, Mark entered a cave and had his mind thrown back into the past, reliving events from before he got his powers.

When he finally returns to the new present, he realizes that five years have transpired in his absence and that his infant daughter is now a young child. Though they're both saddened by the lost time, Mark and Eve reconcile and comfort each other. Though go off to build a new life, with Mark even letting Eve's revealed affair during his absence slide. Unfortunately, a potential new future for the family is almost cut short when they're attacked by the villainous Thragg and his children. They also discover that Mark's brother Oliver is dead, sending Eve and Mark to attack Thragg's home planet.

During the scuffle, Anissa shows up and is mortally wounded beyond even Eve's ability to heal her. Anissa begs Eve for forgiveness for what she did to Mark, also revealing that she had a secret son because of the act. Mark later connects with his son, who becomes the new Invincible in the future. Likewise, Terra and Mark eventually mourn an incredibly old Eve on her deathbed, but just as she seems to pass away, her powers restore her to her youth. Watching their daughter Terra grow into an upstanding young woman, Mark and Eve live long lives into the future, seemingly happily ever after.
