Loki and Luca Headline Disney+'s June 2021 Promo | CBR

Disney+ released a promo for what's coming to the streaming service in June 2021, offering a sneak peek at Marvel's Loki series and Pixar's animated movie Luca.

Created by Michael Waldron, the Loki series will centered on the time-displaced God of Mischief who took off with the Tesseract for destinations unknown during 2019's Avengers: Endgame. This will be the third live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe show to stream on the platform following WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Unlike those series, however, new episodes of Loki will premiere on Wednesdays rather than Fridays. What's more, there's already talk of the show lasting multiple seasons, as opposed to being a one-off like the other Disney+ MCU series so far.

A week and a half after Loki arrives, Disney+ will begin streaming Luca. Directed by Enrico Casarosa, who also helmed Pixar's Oscar-nominated 2011 animated short La Luna, the movie will follow best friends Luca and Alberto as they spend a fun-filled summer in a seaside town on the Italian Riviera, all the whole hiding their secret: they're actually young sea monsters disguised as regular human boys. Like Pixar's last film, Soul, Luca will skip theaters to stream exclusively on Disney+, with no extra surcharge for subscribers.

Other titles coming in June include Disney Animation's fantasy/adventure film Raya and the Last Dragon, which was previously only available to stream through the service with Disney+ Premier Access. The platform will also add multiple older movies, including Fox's 2009 X-Men prequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the 2005 Vin Diesel family action/comedy The Pacifier. New episodes of Star Wars: The Bad Batch will likewise continue to roll out on a weekly basis, as will entire seasons of shows that initially aired on other Disney platforms (like the Disney Channel's Muppet Babies reboot).
