10 Times Boruto Was A Jerk | CBR

Boruto Uzumaki is the protagonist of the sequel to Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. As Naruto's son, fans' expectations of Boruto are certainly quite high, and he sometimes fails to live up to them. Unlike most protagonists, Boruto is a character who splits opinions among fans, and this has to do with his bratty nature and his inability to acknowledge his father in the beginning.

While Boruto can be the most lovable character, he has proven himself to be quite a jerk at times. Naturally, that can get a little annoying for fans.

10 Boruto Didn't Respect His Father At All InThe Beginning

Boruto was quite a spoiled brat at the beginning of the series who had no respect for his father. Although Boruto did love him, he never truly understood what being the Hokage meant, which is why he never understood why his father was away all the time. At times, Boruto disrespected Naruto to his face and at others, he was shown to be angry with him when he wasn't around. Thankfully, the two mended their relationship as the story moved forward.

9 He Initially Disrespected The Ninja Way By Being Too Carefree

Boruto's respect for life as a ninja wasn't always at its current level. When he was in the Academy, he hardly cared about being a ninja. In fact, when the time to graduate came closer, Boruto wasn't even sure why he was pursuing the path in the first place. Consequently, he didn't understand the history of shinobi and the weight that it holds in the ninja world. It took quite a lesson from Kakashi to make him understand what being a shinobi was truly about.

8 He Made Excuses During His Training With Konohamaru

Boruto trained under Konohamaru to learn the Rasengan and impress Sasuke. It took him a few days to create a small Rasengan, but the process to get him there was quite frustrating for Konohamaru. In fact, Boruto kept making excuses and even questioned Konohamaru's methods when he was failing, which was yet another example of disrespectful behavior from him.

7 He Was Rude To Sasuke For No Apparent Reason

When Boruto met Sasuke, he immediately decided to sneak up on him to see how capable he truly was. After being defeated, Boruto wanted to become Sasuke's student, which was a task he accomplished.

His training under Sasuke brought out his bratty nature once again. When things didn't go his way, he threw a tantrum. Once again, he resorted to using the Ninja Tools to create a bigger Rasengan to impress Sasuke, thinking Sasuke was ignorant enough to not notice.

6 He Decided To Use The Scientific Ninja Tools In The Chunin Exams

Boruto was more than capable of doing well in the Chunin Exams, but instead of relying on his own skill, he chose to use the Scientific Ninja Tools. Understandably, Boruto wanted his father to praise and acknowledge him, but he went the wrong way about it. Boruto ended up reaching the finals of the Chunin Exams by cheating, and in doing so, he stripped countless other candidates of their chance to appear in the final. His victory was hollow and made him look like a jerk with no remorse for what he'd done until the very end.

5 He Betrayed His Best Friend Shikadai Using Scientific Ninja Tools

Boruto and Shikadai shared a very strong bond with each other, and the latter had great respect for the protagonist of the story. Sadly, this respect wasn't mutual as Boruto decided to cheat his way to the finals of the Chunin Exams even when he was fighting his best friend. Boruto didn't regret his decision to cheat at the time, and he didn't care as long as he got what he wanted. Shikadai's disappointment in Boruto was evident when his secret was exposed by Naruto.

4 He Never Even Made An Effort To Get To Know Mitsuki

Boruto and Mitsuki made a good team ever since the latter appeared in Konohagakure. To Mitsuki, Boruto meant a lot right from the get-go as he considered him to be his "sun."

On several occasions, Mitsuki has risked his life for Boruto, and he tried to understand Boruto outside of combat to the best of his ability. Sadly, Boruto never showed him the same level of care until he defected from the village. It was only then that Boruto realized how great a friend Mitsuki truly was and how much he took him for granted.

3 He Got Mad At Naruto Uzumaki For Using Scientific Ninja Tools

Boruto didn't understand the need for Scientific Ninja Tools at all, which is why he ended up misusing them. When Naruto tested it out to see what progress Katasuke had made, Boruto got upset because he didn't expect Naruto to use the ninja tools at all. In reality, it was Boruto who was once again acting on his emotions and not understanding that the Scientific Ninja Tools were great inventions that were needed for people who suffered in the Fourth Great Ninja War.

2 Boruto Uzumaki Was Rude To Kawaki When He Was Their Guest

Kawaki was taken in by the Uzumaki Family and he has lived under Naruto's roof since then. Although Boruto and Kawaki eventually developed a great relationship, things weren't always the same between them. In fact, the two got off to a very rocky start and Boruto was extremely rude to Kawaki, even when he was a guest. It took quite a while for him to warm up to Kawaki, who had to put up with Boruto's short-tempered behavior until then.

1 He Gained A God Complex When Momoshiki Otsutsuki Took Control Of Body

Due to the Karma seal that Boruto bears on the palm of his hand, he is the vessel of Momoshiki Otsutsuki. As his Otsutsukification progresses, it becomes easier for Momoshiki to take over his body. So far, this has happened on two occasions, and Boruto has become quite a dangerous person both times. He even stabbed Sasuke's Rinnegan in this state. In this powerful state, Boruto gains a god complex that is quite scary and frustrating for those around him.
