The Phantom Troupe is a group that includes some of the worst thieves in the world Hunter x Hunter. Also going by the name of the 'Spider', they consist of thirteen members, all of which are exceptional in the usage of Nen. Most of the Phantom Troupe originated from Meteor City, but that is not the case for all of its members.
Since the beginning of the series, many characters including Kalluto and Hisoka joined the Troupe for different reasons. If one wishes to join the Troupe, however, they must kill one of the thirteen members and replace them accordingly. No matter how they are ranked in terms of strength, it is incredibly difficult to defeat any of them thanks to their varied abilities and deadly combat experience.

10 Shalnark Was A Former Licensed Hunter But Had Limited Nen Abilities
Shalnark was once a licensed Hunter, but he joined the Phantom Troupe later on in his life. Marked as the #4, or #6 of the Spider, Shalnark possessed tremendous strength, and as a Manipulator, his Nen abilities were intriguing as well. In his autopilot mode, Shalnark proved to be a tenacious fighter for anyone.
Unfortunately, it had its limitations, which restricted its usage. Despite him having the tenth highest strength in the Troupe, Shalnark didn't put up too much of a fight against Hisoka, which shows that he isn't as powerful as some of the other members.
9 Machi Komacine Can Use Her Abilities Better As A Healer Than A Fighter
The #3 member of the Phantom Troupe, Machi is one of the most impressive members of the Phantom Troupe, thanks to her Nen abilities. Using her sewing needles and combining them with her Nen ability, Machi becomes a terrifying foe that most Nen users would rather avoid.
With her Transmuter abilities, she can read the movements of most enemies and fix those who are injured, which makes her an unassailable asset to the Troupe. Among the women of the Phantom Troupe, she's considered to have the highest brute strength. However, her strength does not work well when fighting in close quarters, and, therefore, she ranks ninth on the list.
8 Franklin Bordeau Is One Of The Original Members & Can Emit Bullets From His Fingers
A resident of the Meteor City, Franklin Bordeau boasts incredible physical strength in the Phantom Troupe, which isn't much of a surprise, considering his size. Franklin is the #7 member of the Spider and is one of its original members, which is why he's held in high regard by Chrollo.
As an Emitter, Franklin's Nen ability is fatal for anyone who encounters him in close combat. Using an insane amount of aura, he can let loose thousands of bullets on his enemies, which, more often than not, end up killing them. Undoubtedly, Franklin is powerful, and we'll likely see more of him if the manga does continue.
7 Nobunaga Hazama Is One Of the Speediest Swordsmen
One of the fiercest members of the Troupe, and the man who bears the #1 mark, Nobunaga is an exceptionally skilled Nen user. Even though he's not physically the strongest in the Spider, his speed, intellect, and skills as a master swordsman make up for that.
Nobunaga is an Emitter, and his usage of En is spectacular. Although it is not quite on the same level as Pitou's, it allows him to cover everything within four meters of his body, which gives him a great edge in fights. Much of his skills remain unknown. However, with a mind as keen as his, it is no wonder that he is considered one of the Troupe's strongest members.
6 Phinks Magcub Is Another Founding Member With Lots Of Raw Strength
Phinks is possibly one of the founding members of the Phantom Troupe, and he hails from Meteor City like some of the other members. Bearing the #5 mark, Phinks possesses sky-high physical strength, which was once second only to Uvogin.
However, now, he ranks as the first when it comes to raw strength alone. As a skilled Nen user, Phinks specializes in Enhancer techniques, which explains his incredible hand-to-hand combat skills and high strength output. Using the technique known as "Ripper Cyclotron," he can cause astronomical damage to anyone who stands in his way.
5 Uvogin Is The Strongest Physically
Uvogin, also known as Uvo, was physically the strongest member of the Phantom Troupe. He bore the #11 mark on his lower back and originated from Meteor City as well. With his strength as an Enhancer, he was able to destroy the famed Four Shadow Beasts like they were nothing.
His Nen aura was very potent and using it, he could crush bullets, rocks, and almost every other weapon as well. His Ken ability was superior to most that we've seen in the series but, unfortunately, he crossed paths with Kurapika and met his demise there. Nonetheless, Uvogin is one of the strongest Troupe members.
4 Illumi Zoldyck Comes From A Family Of Assassins
One of the ace assassins in the series and the first son of Silva Zoldyck, Illumi possesses great capabilities as a fighter. On being asked by Hisoka, he joined up with the Phantom Troupe to replace Uvo, who was killed by Kurapika. Illumi's presence is such that even Hisoka prefers to be especially alert when he's around.
His Nen aura is majestic and, although he can use other abilities as well, he excels in Manipulator techniques. Even a short burst of his aura can be felt from several hundred meters and, when used in conjunction with his needles, it can easily kill even skilled Nen users. To date, he remains one of the most impressive Manipulators seen in the series.
3 Feitan Portor Was The De Facto Leader For The Spiders Until Chrollo Returned
Feitan is easily one of the most powerful members of the Phantom Troupe in Hunter x Hunter. When Chrollo's Nen was sealed away by Kurapika, Feitan became the de facto leader of the group until his return, which shows how skilled he is. With his blazing speed, he can kill most opponents without them even realizing what's happened.
His Nen specialty is Transmutation and, just like his speed, it is deadly as well. Feitan's Rising Sun remains to be one of the most impressive techniques in the series so far. When unleashed, it kills most in the vicinity, be it an enemy or a fellow member of the Spider.
2 Hisoka Morow Is An Accomplished Nen User & Difficult To Defeat
One of the most enigmatic characters in the entire series, Hisoka bore the #4 mark when he was a member of the Phantom Troupe. He's certainly a strong fighter, capable of taking on even the elites in the Hunter x Hunter world, such as Chrollo.
Hisoka is an accomplished Nen user as well. As a Transmuter, his aura possesses the quality of both rubber and gum, as described by Hisoka himself, and is known as Bungee Gum. Though it appeared simple at first to viewers and opponents in-universe, Hisoka's usage of this ability made him troublesome for anyone to fight, including Specialists like Chrollo.
1 Chrollo Lucifer Is The Troupe's Founder & Its Strongest Member
The bearer of the #0 mark, Chrollo is the founder of the Phantom Troupe, and unarguably its strongest member. His skills are widely recognized by characters such as Zeno Zoldyck himself, and in combat, few can hold their own against a monster such as him.
Chrollo is a Specialist, and his ability to steal the Nen ability of others is one of the most dangerous powers in the anime series, if not the most dangerous. Thanks to this, he's a master at using the other five types as well. Even someone as strong as Hisoka cannot defeat him in a fight, which makes him the undisputed number one of the Phantom Troupe.
