The Flash Releases Armageddon Trailer | CBR

"Armageddon" has come for The Flash. In the first trailer for the upcoming five-episode event, Barry Allen finds himself face-to-face with Despero, who threatens to erase him from existence.

When the trailer opens, the camera pans over wide shots of Central City as Barry speeds through the streets like a streak of lightning. "My name is Barry Allen, and I'm about to do something impossible," he intones, before the trailer cuts to show the villain at hand: Despero, a powerful alien entity who has devious plans for the Scarlet Speedster.

"I came a long way to find you, Flash," Despero tells Barry, as the trailer shows chaos spreading throughout the city. In another shot, he looms over a chess board in STAR Labs' lounge. "Now that I have, I'm going to end your existence. You have seven days."

Barry appears to take the threat seriously, telling the others, "Everyone I love is going to die." However, Team Flash isn't so quick to give up. "There's always hope," Allegra promises.

Naturally, hope arrives in the form of Barry's Super Friends. Returning to the Hall of Justice for the first time since "Crisis on Infinite Earths," he assembles his fellow heroes for the fight, calling upon Black Lightning, Batwoman, Mia Queen's Green Arrow, Ray Palmer, Ryan Choi and more to lend a hand.

The trailer shows a few brief interactions between Barry and the other heroes. In one scene, Ray asks if Barry has been working out, likely in reference to The Flash star Grant Gustin's real-life fitness journey. In another, Jefferson Pierce uses one of his iconic Black Lightning catch phrases to boost Barry's moral, asking, "Where's the future?" to which Barry responds, "Right here."

From there, the trailer leaps into action as the heroes attempt to save the day. "This could be the end of the world as we know it," Ryan admits as earthquakes rock Central City. Finally, the trailer comes to a close on an extreme close-up of Barry's devastated face, while the familiar voice of Reverse-Flash issues an eerie warning: "You never know what face fate will wear when it shows up to change your life."
