Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba fans who are still reeling from the Mugen Train arc's final battle owe it to themselves to check out new fan art from artist Wizyakuza.
SPOILERS FOR DEMON SLAYER'S MUGEN TRAIN ARC FOLLOW:
The illustrator posted new art of the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku and his final opponent, the Twelve Kizuki demon Akaza. The two portraits use a shifting perspective to give the pieces the illusion of three dimensional depth, even when viewed on a non-stereoscopic screen. The art recreates the battle between the two leaders during the finale to the Mugen Train arc, which is depicted in both the 2020 movie Mugen Train and the first seven episodes of Demon Slayer's second season. According to the artist, both pieces took over 65 hours to produce.
Wizyakuza is a two person team consisting of Ceasar Ian Muyuela, a digital illustrator and artist based San Mateo, Rizal in the Philippines, and Christian Gaarenstroom, a digital engineer. Prints, canvas pieces, and more 3D artwork can be purchased from their website, Wizyakuza.com. In addition to their Demon Slayer fan art, the artist has also produced pieces for other popular shonen anime, such as Dragon Ball, Naruto and Berserk, and also creates Marvel, DC, and video game fan art.
Demon Slayer is currently airing its second season, which premiered last month with an all-new episode showing The Flame Hashira's journey to the Mugen Train. The following six episodes of the second season are a retelling of the Mugen Train movie from 2020. Mugen Train is the highest grossing anime movie of all time, so it's fair to assume that fans of the series have already seen its story, but animation studio Ufotable has added 70 newly animated scenes to the TV version of the arc in order to entice viewers into watching it again. The Mugen Train arc will be followed up with the anime's highly anticipated adaptation of the Entertainment District arc. The arc is one of the most beloved parts of Koyoharu Gotouge's original manga and centers on Tanjiro and his friends as they assist the Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui, who is investigating a series of demon-related disappearances within a large city's red light district.
Crunchyroll and Funimation are both hosting simulcasts of the new episodes from Season 2 shortly after they are broadcast in Japan.
