In fact, Kishimoto is known for writing villains whom the fans can understand to an extent, and some of those villains have even done kind things for others.

10 Zabuza Ended Gato's Corruption & Terror In The Land Of Waves

Zabuza served as the antagonist of the Land of Waves arc of Naruto and the first main villain in the story. Toward the end of his life, he got rid of Gato and his men and saved countless others from being terrorized by him. At the same time, Zabuza finally embraced Haku and realized that he was more than a pawn to him. Without a doubt, Zabuza's death made the fans shed a few tears.

9 Gaara Became One Of Naruto's Biggest Allies In The Future

Gaara was a major antagonist of the Chunin Exams arc where Sunagakure, along with Otogakure, eventually attacked Konohagakure. Gaara was key to the success of the mission, and since he was a killing machine, all he wanted to do was shed more blood. After killing quite a few shinobi, Gaara was eventually stopped by Naruto. Following his defeat, he changed his ways for good and helped Konohagakure whenever he could.

8 Sasori Helped Sakura By Telling Her About Orochimaru's Location

Sasori was the very first Akatsuki member who met his end after the timeskip. He was the main opponent of Sakura and Chiyo, who took him down together. Shortly before dying, Sasori informed them of Orochimaru's location, important information that Sakura wanted from him. By getting this key piece of information from him, Team 7 planned their next mission and went to confront Orochimaru and Sasuke.

7 Itachi Kept The Village Safe From The Akatsuki

After slaughtering his entire clan, Itachi Uchiha joined the Akatsuki and worked on behalf of Pain, their leader. Itachi certainly got his hands dirty and played the role of a major villain even though he had good intentions from the very beginning.

While he couldn't do much to avoid helping the Akatsuki, he did keep Konohagakure safe by not allowing his group to go near them. It was only after his death that Pain made his move.

6 Itachi Managed To Protect Sasuke

The only person Itachi left alive during the Uchiha Massacre was his little brother, Sasuke. Itachi forced him to grow stronger by making Sasuke hate his elder brother. However, secretly, Itachi always ensured that Sasuke was safe. He visited the village on several occasions just to let the elders know that he was watching them. Itachi also saved Sasuke from Kabuto when the two fought, which was certainly good to see.

5 Pain Revived The People Who Died In Konohagakure's Destruction

Shortly after Itachi's death, Nagato made his move for the Nine-Tails and attempted to take it from Naruto. When Naruto was nowhere to be found, Pain ended up blowing the village up. Naruto fought against Pain in an enthralling battle that ended in the Jinchuriki's favor. Following Naruto's conversation with a defeated Nagato, Nagato realized his mistakes and decided to bring back all those he killed that day, including Kakashi.

4 Orochimaru Helped Sasuke Meet The Four Hokage

Orochimaru was one of the biggest antagonists in the Naruto series, but at one point, he stopped his evil ways and went down a different road.

In the Fourth Great Ninja War, Orochimaru even helped Sasuke Uchiha meet the Four Hokage. Thanks to Orochimaru, Sasuke got to speak to the Kage and get the answers that he was searching for. Without Orochimaru, Sasuke could very well have remained a major villain.

3 Madara Created Konohagakure With Hashirama

Madara Uchiha was one of the biggest villains of the Naruto series, and he proved that to the fans in the Fourth Great Ninja War. Although he was considered to be an evil person, Madara wanted the very same peace that Naruto fought for. In fact, he played a great role in the formation of Konohagakure with Hashirama Senju. The two created the village together, and Madara named it Konohagakure himself.

2 Kabuto Saved Sasuke From Dying

Sasuke faced a cruel defeat at the hands of Madara toward the end of the Fourth Great Ninja War. Having been stabbed through the chest, Sasuke was left on death's door. Thanks to Hagoromo Otsutsuki and Kabuto, Sasuke was spared. Hagoromo Otsutsuki bestowed the Six Paths Yin power on Sasuke, while Kabuto saved his life using his medical ninjutsu.

1 Obito Sacrificed Himself For Naruto

Obito Uchiha was the man partially responsible for starting the Fourth Great Ninja War. Obito killed countless people there, which was unforgivable. However, by the end, Naruto's words got through to him, and Obito decided to help the good guys. Obito helped Naruto survive, and later against Kaguya Otsutsuki, he gave his life up so Naruto could save the world.
